In the handmaid's tale by Margaret Atwood which has recently become a series on Hulu, women are made s***es by men. In that world women can no longer have babies, except for a few so the ( very Christian) men ens***e women as "handmaids" and the wives hold them down as the man rapes them. Then the woman Bears a child and has to give it to the wife. Torture of women ifrequent. I don't know if it would be just like this but I think that the Pences of this world would very much like to see women ens***ed by lack of birth control and a******n.
I don't like a******n either, which is where I touch a finger with the right, I think it's murder.
But I think it has to be legal and available , especially in the first trimester. And if they are going to make women bear children they should find a way to take care of those children. I wish you all well.

Being Christian equates with creating suffering? I don't agree... Although there are Christian extremists out there...

If by "birth control and family planning" you mean a******n, then I'm certain you're correct.. And he'd have my support in his endeavor...
If you are referring to contraceptives, then I doubt that that genie is ever going back in the bottle

Had to google "Gilead" from this "Handmaid's Tale"... Don't watch very much TV... The there is just a little bet of hyperbole in your statement... Try reading Stephen King's "The Stand", or Larry Niven's "Lucifer's Hammer", I think either are more likely turnouts for a worldwide disaster and recovery...

Mary, if you haven't gotten the message yet, this can be a rough and tumble forum. But, you will be warmly welcomed by many who are not so harsh/judgmental as others. Give it a go for while, but understand that thick skin is needed, if not essential.

I consider myself a moderate/centrist with left leanings, yet have found many damn fine people on OPP from both sides of the aisle, whether they be democrat/liberal or republican/conservative. Of course, you will also run into several who are not.

If you think you already have... trust me, you have yet to see the best or worst of OPP. In addressing posters, it is best to remember the Golden Rule, as courtesy, civility, and respect are generally reciprocated.
