Say it is 4% and there are a half million clergy outside of the Catholic Church, that would mean there are 20,000 sexual predators hiding in the ranks of our churches. So throw in the Catholic Chruch and that's why no child of mine ever went to church unescorted.

And no thanks to Secular religions, there are 60 million mutilated dead American babies who have been burned to ashes or parts of them stored in PPH freezers.

There is no theological reason for celibacy. It was instituted by a pope, whose name escapes me at the moment, who didn’t want to pay for the relocation of priests families during Medieval times. Constantine moved the church to Constantinople following the council of Nicea in the early fourth century. This bankrupted the Roman Church which had not yet established a presence in the European monarchies to share in ruling and fundraising. Celibacy was simply an austerity measure, but, because the pope sold it as God’s will they can’t justify changing the rule now!! The Bible actually defines the family as the correct and righteous lifestyle, but, the Roman Church teaches it’s own version..........which, of course, was (and is) the reason for The Reformation!

Maybe if they married, they would stop their sick behavior as a pervert with children!

Yes, that they aren't allowed to is why so many perverts have taken over their ranks.

Another sanctimonious completely unproved assertion from someone who specializes in them. See post immediately above. Remember Mark Twain's adage; better to say nothing and look stupid than to open your mouth & remove all doubt. Learn the t***h before you start spouting off your nonsense.

BTW, PeterS, do you even practice any religion or is your God in your mirror?

Do you really think that those two scenarios are equal, Kev?

From what I understand its a sacrifice they made to offer their life to preach from the Holy Bible and to spread the word. Personally, it would cut the abuse to children in my opinion and those who want to marry can others don't have to

Hi,PR...I'm not Catholic, but a spiritual Christian. I'm reading a book "Francis-A Saint's Way" by James Cowan. Awesome writer.
It's about Saint Francis of Assisi, a man who tried to get close to Christ/God by rejecting earthly things;fancy clothes, elaborate housing etc. He fell deeply and spiritually in love with a woman, but never married,or "consumated" their love. It wasn't God-Like to him.
A strange man,but very inspirational in his convictions.
Look up "The Prayer of St. Francis". It's quite beautiful.

I believe it had to do with enriching the coffers. Inheriting the priests' (families') wealth after they died. Easier if no surviving heirs.

I'm not sure why you are asking that question. Please explain.

His God already served as POTUS for 8 years. And now that Obama is out of office, he has nothing important to say.

I'm not Catholic .

Agree there are bad leaders in every church , however I think the Catholic Church has had a problem of just moving the bad ones to another location where they continue their evil ways !

What I've seen in other churches as they boot them out and turn over to the authorities !

I do think the Catholic churches would be better served by letting their Priest marry which I think would stop a lot of this bad stuff !
