"Taken from the RFSQ Video release "Live in Japan", Trey Gunn treats us to a performance of Chromatic Fantasy in D Minor and the California Guitar Trio perform Blockhead with a solo from Robert Fripp. On the third track Hope, we hear a beautiful haunting solo from Trey Gunn and shared with Paul Richards of the California Guitar Trio. It was filmed at Tokyo FM Hall for "Wowow" TV on November 11th, 1992. In 1992 and 1993, the Robert Fripp String Quintet did a few short tours in Japan, Italy, Argentina, England and the USA"

Fripp has one of the strangest styles I've ever heard but I love instrumental stuff.

Fripp has been a guest on Satriani's G3 tour a time or two and founded King Crimson. He's sure got an odd style.

Satriani's a heavy-hitter...he still around?
And King Crimson- Wow, a blast from the Court of the Past!

Oh yeah...Satriani jammed with everyone of his caliber for many years doing the G3 thing...maybe still does but it wouldn't matter because he still jams with everyone.

Regular guests of G3 include:

Steve Vai

John Petrucci

Steve Morse

Dave LaRue

Robert Fripp

Yngwie Malmsteeen

Stuart Hamm

Eric Johnson

Billy Sheehan...on and on...

I saw Satriani at the Silver Legacy in Reno about 10 years ago (time flies), Mountain was the warmup and they all did a couple of numbers together at the end.

Leslie West called Satriani "a fuckin' showoff".

A little King Crimson if you liked the Fripp Quintet...we're all gettin' old.
