Shep Smith resigns from Fox News...Fox viewers rejoice.

Today Shep Smith resigned from Fox News and with complete certainty I can say that Conservatives, to a man and woman, are glad to see him go. Why are conservatives so glad to see him go? Because Smith is one of the few at that sorry institution that wouldn't compromise his intellectual honesty and character to tell the lies that Fox viewers demand to hear. One by one Smith would unravel the various conspiracy theories that have made Conservatism the ideological cesspool it is today.

I first started to listen to Smith when he did a piece on Uranium One and he told a narrative that was totally counter to what Fox viewers wanted him to say. When Trump lied Smith wasn't afraid to speak up. When Trump called a news organization f**e Smith was first to point out that Trump was the one who was speaking falsely. Smith stood with integrity when one by one his fellow conservatives abandoned theirs in order to worship Trump.

And I have to hand it to Fox for hiring Smith in the first place when he was so clearly counter to what their viewers wanted to hear. So Fox truly is to be commended for acknowledging t***h by hiring and retaining Smith for all of 23 years. It's just unfortunate that t***h isn't what Fox's viewers want to hear...

Important life lesson, PeterS; just because you like hearing it doesn't make it true.

I would concur with your analysis. Smith did not let anybody off the hook from either side and as such joined that almost endangered species, an objective voice that appeared to call them as he saw them without regard for the looming consequences to his career at Fox. He has been a marked man for some time so little surprise that Trump sent a goodfella to take care of him. Hope he got a fat golden handshake for his trouble.

And just because it it doesn't fit your idealogical narrative does not make it false.

100% correct! That is why we should wait for documentation before shooting from the lip.

I’m glad he’s gone. I was never able to disassociate the fact of him being an unrepentant sodomite to his particular spin on the news.
Fox doesn’t his ilk broadcasting news. Juan Williams should also go. Other than being a fool to Jesse Watters, he contributes nothing. Certainly not incisive insight. More likely tired, predictable, Dim talking points. Ditto for Donna Brazil.
I’ve started watching OAN to verify what I see on Fox.

Smith studied journalism at U of Miss but did not graduate with a degree. Smith appeared as himself in the 1997 film Volcano, and, Michael Moore received permission to use Smith's Fox News report during the opening moments of the 2003 Iraq War in the film Fahrenheit 9/11.

There is no doubt that Smith never embraced the ethical standards of professional journalism, he never was objective and independent in his reporting. Smith is an ideologue, a l*****t political hack.

And what of Hannity et al? Are they not ideologues on the right?

Unlike Shepard Smith, Hannity et al are not journalists, never aspired to be journalists, never studied journalism, don't pretend to be journalists. They are conservative political commentators. Unlike Smith et al, they do not make the news fit an ideological agenda. They calls 'em as they sees 'em.
