Does the Universe have Purpose?

According to astrophysicist and science communicator Neil deGrasse Tyson, the answer is no. But I feel I know better.

It was back in 1988 I became convinced that the unique and amazing properties of water (liquid, gas, and solid, that miraculously expands instead of contracts under 32 degrees, which if it contracted as everything else would kill all life in frozen lakes, steams, rivers and oceans) was proof of Intelligent Design. I still believe that. I prefer the term God.

Besides your faith, what convinces you there is Intelligent Design or God? Personally, all of nature also is proof to me. But I am asking about one thing that is an artifact of proof or convincing for you as water is for me. Example on Evolution: "the chance that a tornado sweeping through a junkyard might assemble a Boeing 747." It was used originally by Fred Hoyle, in which he applied statistical analysis to the origin of life.

But if you do not believe the Universe has purpose, please show why not.

Funny how we humans need things to have purpose...

As if we could comprehend the purpose of the universe...

God is good... Amen

One does not have to comprehend the universe to have faith in its purpose. We do comprehend a great deal about the universe. Not close to everything but a good start in being able to determine a choice.

But I made a similar argument in graduate school about the need for meaning. We studied Victor Frnakl who spent time in a Nazi Concentration Camp. Frankl's concentration camp experiences shaped both his therapeutic approach and philosophical outlook, as reflected in his seminal publications. He often said that even within the narrow boundaries of the concentration camps he found only two races of Men to exist: decent ones and unprincipled ones. He developed Theology, the explanation of phenomena in terms of the purpose they serve rather than of the cause by which they arise; the doctrine of design and purpose in the material world.

It has a purpose. It pleases God and declares His glory and power. Plus it gives those who reject Him headaches trying to explain why some planets spin left and others spin right. Why we are in the sweet spot, close enough to the Sun not to freeze and far enough away not to burn up. The Big Bang didn't work so they went to Intelligent Design, even that's too close to saying God did it, so now they are trying to debunk ID.

How did the big bang not work for any of the above?

The sweet spot is rather large...And highly dependent on numerous factors... A smaller planet would be a frozen ball of nothing due to its inability to hold onto a proper atmosphere..

Planetary spin is confusing how?

I agree that the universe pleases God

If everything exploded from something smaller than an atom, at the same time with the same force, planets should be spinning in the same direction. They don't, they spin clockwise and counterclockwise. Space is a vacuum, no atmosphere. Size doesn't determine if a planet is frozen but how far away its Sun is. Earth is struck by seven types of waves, each has to be dialed in like a radio or life wouldn't exist. Electromagnetic Waves (1) Gamma - nuclear (2) x-rays -penetrating (3) UV - excited light (4) Infrared - invisible light and heat (5) Light - visibility (6) Micro - heat and data (7) Radio - communication.

How can the sweet spot be large compared to the entire universe? It's very tiny. No life has been found anywhere so far. Recently they are saying microbes and water have been found.

UFOs are being seen more often and full disclosure seems nearer.

Sorry... I don't understand why planets should all need spinning the same way.... They coalesced billions of years after the big bang...

All of those waves are generated by stars and are a part of the natural universe... Literally every planet in existence is bombarded by those waves...

A smaller planet would not have the gravity to keep it's atmosphere... And would therefore freeze...

The sweet spot is large compared to the size of the earth... We could fit hundreds of earths into our own sweet spot... And each star would have its own sweet spot... Remember..This sweet spot is only for our type of life form...

I have no doubt that aliens exist... Look forward to meeting them

Don't think I can convince you that most explosions cause things to travel in the same direction with the same spin.

Most planets do receive those waves but they don't have life. Only one big blue marble. Maybe no sweet spot is why there isn't any life. All seven waves have to be within a range that allows life.

Is space a vacuum? Do vacuums have an atmosphere? They didn't teach me that in school. Saturn has rings but that just space dust and rocks circling a planet with a gravitational pull.

I don't want to meet any aliens since I think most will be shape-shifting demons. I have three ways of testing them. If they can read my mind, I'm in big trouble.
