You are a Christian art teacher: can you study nude paintings? You are a Christian English teacher: can you study Harry potter?

I have a very strong opinion on these issues. Yet I will keep it to myself. Those who are not Christians are welcomed to share, but directed at Christians.

What does nudity and fiction have to do with Christianity? For that matter, with any religion? Are those things lewd to you?

Not to me, no. But many Christian libraries have condemned, banned, and burned Harry Potter books. My point is that I feel both are not lewd or satanical and thus, will suffer from that at my church.

Yes and yes....

Depending on what it is exactly you're studying

Rumi should specify exactly what his is looking at and reading and be very specific. The question is whether the nude is strictly a painting from early in humans existence like a painting or sculpture of David or what are you looking at if it is pornographic in nature then no. The same goes for what you are studying you can study about demons without delving into their practices and rituals and partaking of them.

Studying nudes is appropriate for teenagers or even adult Christians? Why? How does that improve their faith? Isn't it a temptation to be avoided? Remember, we are not of this world. Studying about a sorcerer when the Bible preaches against it. Why?

The point of my thread was very clear if you gave some open-minded thought to it. Now, please comment.

Throughout history, many paintings and sculptures have depicted Biblical people, such as Adam and Eve, in the nude and they're very tastefully done. The private parts are discreetly hidden with foliage and Eve's hair covers her breasts, but if you're talking about pornography, no, that is not a suitable subject for Christians to study. As for Harry Potter, well, those stories are centered around witchcraft and not suitable for Christian study, either. However, there's an excellent alternative to the Harry Potter series called "The Chronicles of Narnia" by C. S. Lewis. The main character is a lion named Aslan, an allegorical representation of the Lion of Judah, Jesus Christ. "The Chronicles of Narnia" are the perfect blend of fantasy and Christianity, too. Best of all, they're very exciting to children, or at least to the ones I've known.
