No Democrat has ever said they want to do away with the Constitution, that just not true but you "choose" to believe it as it fits your monologue.
We would like the electoral vote to represent the voters better, every vote should count equally. We have always believed in the Constitution and that that is more empty rhetoric.
From your posts, I strongly doubt you would seriously consider someone from the left.
If one listens to the Democrats talking points and their actions lean to do away of seriously limit it !
Surely you jest that doing away with the Elector College will make every vote count equally is completely false !
The larger populated states would and could knock out smaller states making their votes irreverent !
The way it is every state has according to the population a set number of Electors per population which is about as equal as they can get !
As of 2010, the five smallest states by population are Wyoming, Vermont, North Dakota, Alaska and South Dakota.
The founding fathers were a lot smarter that most folks are today if the Electoral College was done away with Presidential candidates wouldn't bother visiting these 5 small states as their vote wouldn't amount to anything !
They would spend all their time and money where the votes would actually count !
The popular vote would make the votes in the 5 smallest states irrelevant !
East Coast 24,380,046 Pop
West Coast 47,809,570, Pop
East Coast 24,380,046
West "" 47,809,570
Combined Total 72,189,616
If 2/3 of both Coast voted lets say for liberal 48,126,410.66
5 Smallest States combined 2,631,138
Combined 2,631,138 Pop
if the 5 smallest states voted 100% Conservative it'd make no difference their vote would still be irrelevant !
So do you still think that every vote would count equally ?
If I were a betting man I'd lay odds 10 to 1 that In the event the Electoral College was done away with and if the popular vote went to a Republican the Democrats would demand that the Elector College be instated asap !
