Archie goes to the park

Archie Bunker and his wife went for a stroll in the park
they sat on a bench to just admire the scenery
but then they heard voices coming from a secluded spot behind them
they soon realized that this was a young man proposing to a young lady
Arch's wife didn't want the young couple to be embarrassed to know that their conversation was being overheard,nudged Arch and said"Arch whistle or something so they will know we are close to them"
Arch looked at his wife and replied
"Why the hell should I whistle at them?
Nobody whistled or did anything to warn me"?
