(Re-)watched "Wag the Dog" movie last night - first time I've watched it since it came out in 1998. Talk about poignant and timely (prophetic). I highly recommend viewing it.
While I am sure it existed, we didn't have the proliferation of "F**e News" back then. Of course we didn't have social media, per se, either. And nowadays..... It is all about creating the aforementioned f**e news to distract from other foibles. Sound all too familiar?
Also, ironically, considering the initial plot, bear in mind this film came out prior to Bill Clinton's little "affair" in the Oval Office with Ms. Lewinsky...
