Her income hadn't changed, just how much more she had to pay in taxes.

Her two employees were very very glad she hadn't known she was supposed to decrease the amount taken out of their paychecks so that they got more. As it turns out they were upset that they were not getting the normal amount back they usually did. Turns out she did them a favor because had she done it correctly they would have actually owed money. Working people typically do not appreciate not having enough held out to where they have to write uncle sam a check.

And the POS contractors I know? They could make double what they have been and not a dime will go to their employees unless they threaten to quit and go work for someone else.

I can't comment in that because I don't know the veterinary business -- I don't suppose they hire consultants much in my line, as they usually have one or two loyal patients h*****g around that are endowed with razor sharp teeth...

But the situation you describe sounds more the rarity than the norm these days.
