Unlike "rapist" Mexicans, all other Immigrants to America learned English the day off the boat and were tops in their profession

And none ever committed a crime. That's not r****t, right? Like D**gnet said, "Just the facts." (Are those the facts?") How many other "invasions" have we had from the Irish, Italians, and other East and West Europeans? (None from the Jews during WWII: we turned them away.) Why did all this "wretched refuse" from "teeming shores" come here? Why would anyone want to come to the greatest nation on earth that treasures human rights, filled with unlimited opportunity, and freedom? An enigma.

My family came from Ireland during the first Potato Famine. Their entry was blocked, so they were dumped in Canada and then sneaked into New York, migrating down to Manhattan. I*****l a***ns. There was much and even violent protests and actions against these papists. Much like how Trump and the Right are portraying Mexicans. Signs in many stores that read "Irish need not apply": this was promoted by Evangelicals who saw them as working for the "whore of Babylon." (Wow, history does repeat itself.)

This is freaking America, home of the free and the brave--and not a small-minded and h**eful Banana Republic. We are a "city on a hill": we need to start acting like it! How "exceptional" are we to treat immigrants this way?

Our attitude as patriots should be to do all we can to aid asylum-seekers AND secure our borders, with decency and respect. The Mexicans, so I heard, are God's creatures also. Demonizing them as something other than that, as Trump and friends frequently do, is totally un-American.

Nobody is demonizing Mexican immigrants.

Any foreigner who wants TO BECOME AN AMERICAN citizen should follow our laws just as any one of us would have to do if we immigrated to another country.

We are not obligated to simply let anyone in without getting a thorough vetting of their background and reasons for coming here. The masses coming to our border are not all sweet little urchins in need of asylum and they are not all refugees from oppression and crime.

We have a crisis in America involving illegal drugs, primarily synthetic Opioids, specifically f******l, and it is coming directly from China through purchases on the dark web or it is coming across from Mexico. F******l and related illicit drugs are k*****g an average of 70,000 Americans--mostly teens and young adults--per year.

F******l has no growing season like opium poppies, it requires no cultivation and harvest, it is much cheaper to make than even meth and can be easily manufactured in consider quantities with a few chemicals. It is far more lucrative than heroin, cocaine and meth, the Mexican and Central American drug cartels have discovered their Golden Goose.

"We are not obligated to simply let anyone in without getting a thorough vetting of their background and reasons for coming here." This is and always has been part of the immigration process. You state it like it is something new.

They may not all be sweet little urchins--but many are under threat and in need of asylum! Trump wants to ignore the need for safety.

No, Trump does not want to ignore the threat to their safety. Quite the opposite actually. When he said the Mexicans are murderers and rapists, he wasn't talking about ALL Mexicans, he was talking about Mexicans who are murderers and rapists. There are plenty of those, and plenty of them are coming in here. The exchange rate is 19.7 pesos to one US dollar. The drug cartels make a hell of lot more money selling that s**t in the US than down there. Plus, they have a much larger market for it. Every American city and metro area is a target rich environment.

This may come as a shock, but the murder rate in Mexico is 5 times greater than here in the US, and it is even far greater in Central America. IOW, there are a lot of criminals south of our border.

And, because the massive number of immigrants, asylum seekers, refugees, and unknowns is overwhelming our border security agencies and medical resources, we really need to secure the border tight until we can get reasonable control over who is in fact a legitimate asylum seeker and who is not.
