There's been a "rumor" started by one or more of Justice Kennedy's new clerk candidates that he has told them when interviewing them that he is considering retiring next summer.

Just in time to precipitate another epic confirmation battle.

'Rumor' being the operative word.

Not going to happen because neither side wants this when they hold the White House.

Try picking centrist judges with a record of ruling on the law versus partisan beliefs, (Kavenaugh being an example of partisan rulings concerning a******n)

Telling the supreme court to watch their step in terms of paying attention to the law is a fair call, yes they can be impeached by the senate.

The SCOTUS has come up with some seriously partisan rulings as a rule, and is expected to continue to do so

I was talking about 2 Conservative Judges...Gorsuch and Kavanaugh..

The fact that you call them conservative judges implies a partisan bias, what would you have called Garland?

Garland was a centrist judge with a slight right conservative lean, he was a republican, but he was the kind of judge the supreme court needs to be made up of, he follows the law and constitutional precedent. A dem senate will force judges to be picked that are centrist, neither side will be "happy" with them because they will not go along with either side unless a side wants the law adhered to.

Did it occur to you that they did so because they sided with the law, not a liberal side? I'm happy if they can do so on important things that are based on law not religious or political beliefs. A******n will stand with centrist judges that leave religious beliefs out.

I would guess that Kavanaugh's belief and if it ever came down to Roe vs Wade he would rule based on his Roman Catholic upbringing and not on whether he was a republican or a democrat.

It would be interesting, though.

Maybe this time they'll accuse the Trump nominee of making sexual advances to a classmate in second grade, or staring at his fifth grade teacher, or using the "n" word in junior high.

Well, yeah, that could be construed as racial insensitivity by the Democrats, and if no native Americans are offended, they will demand that they be offended, citing that they have no right not to be offended, because being offended is very important in todays America if we are to see justice done for the serial monstrosity of all privileged white folks.

The senate has every right, they pick the judges and they can get rid of them if they don't adhere to the constitution.

The GOP has forgotten something, supreme court judges are supposed to be seen as entirely non political, their personal politics should never be openly on display... the GOP sees nothing wrong with having their conservative judges involve themselves with hard right groups they take speaking engagements with. Obama's supposedly liberal judges recused themselves on any case where they had been involved with an element of the case so as not to seem conflicted, right judges like Thomas who was an attorney for Monsanto should have but never did when Monsanto cases came up. He also always sided with the interests of them.

And that is the stupidity of it all. And then a Republican gets in and we raise it to 13. How absurd.

But really, you need to take a good look at the Trump appointed judges. They have v**ed along with the lib group that mostly v**es as a block, on many occasions. Not as pure right wing judges. That is the difference.

The problem is that the left seems to pick judges that v**e or rule, on making law on cases before them, because they feel that is how it should be and their democrat sponsors want it that way. The republican nominated judges were more often picked for their potential to v**e according to the dictates of the Constitution, precedent and the rule of law.

If you want laws changed, they need to be changed in Congress, not some California liberal judges court room.

Just like Barack Obama picked Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan both well on the left side of center as to their persuasion but I suppose that that was acceptable to you correct.
