It is generally true that prices go up because of Inflation -- creating too much FIAT money -- and from manipulation by Regulations way beyond the bounds of common sense. We are Ruled, you know!

The other thing to consider is that the economic boom in the far east means that hundreds of millions who lived on rice and beans are now competing with the first world for meat and seafood driving up demand and prices.

...higher prices mean better dumpster diving and better discounts...it hasn't been so cheap to eat in 5 years.
....and start growing your own, even one-$3 tomato plant can deliver $30 worth of tomatoes.

Good idea, but when GOVERNment politicians are designated to control themselves (and don't, of course) then any cleanup can never even get started! The only real answer I have is to dissolve D.C. and learn to live where each government himself. Then woe be unto those who don't, as they will be judged by their victims. Isn't that a sobering thought?

It has been happening for months but food prices are not counted in the inflation equation so people get a false sense of the economy.
