Remember, the law is to be applied uniformly across the citizenry. If you gag them, you leave yourself to the same treatment. Yes, you
feel 'gagged' right now, but stop and consider the consequences of ignoring a law that has been in our lives since the country was founded. I don't like them either, but flouting the law of the land because you don't like someone's politics is simply the wrong thing to do.
Better to follow President Trump's example and let them trumpet their message from the rooftops, then sit back and laugh as they are rejected at the polls, and they will be come next year. Guaranteed.
I believe we aren’t following the law now. We are giving 1st Amendment rights to an opinion piece. They have the right of opinion but not the right to slander.

Ah. There are laws about that and some very heavy penalties for those found to have broken said laws. All you need is 'standing' and you're in for a nice payday.
