The reminisce of our past is part of our life's journey. But love does not fade away.
Please have a blessed and beautiful day Larai. Thanks for sharing your loving pet experiences.

I have always had dogs, and sometimes cats around. My father was a country veterinarian, so my brother and I learned to respect, care for and love animals. We learned how to deliver puppies, kittens, goats, foals and calves, give shots, castrate and do all the other things that animals need to have done. I got my degree in animal behavior, still run training classes for dog owners (the owners need the training more than the dogs do). Yes, I do have a bias toward well bred purebred dogs, simply because it is easier to predict what methods of training will get the best results if you know what the parents, grand parents and even 4 to 6 generations behind the dog were like to train, and what kind of behavior patterns each had. I would not consider training a Belgian Malinois the same way we have trained our Cane Corso Mastiffs, let alone the way we have trained either the Welsh Terrier or the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. I do not believe all dogs are trainable, because a puppy raised as a wild animal or raised in a puppy mill does not get the opportunity to develop his mind properly, but if you work with most dogs they can be trained well enough to make great house pets. For the most part I prefer dogs to a number of humans I have had the misfortune to meet. Since I am now 75, and stuck in my ways, I guess I will always be a dog person, no matter what.

My special likes are of much more limited spectrum.
1 people who reach out and take in children who need help and love, no matter what color they or the children are.
2The special connection between dogs and people, both of which God created as companions for the other
3 Quiet summer evenings where the loudest sounds are the katydids.
4 Footprints of the deer in the snow on a cold Sunday morning in January.
5 All the friends and neighbors who were around to help during NPPs medical problems.
6The Carolina wrens who build nests in the old mail boxes we put up on the back deck. They seem to know that we are watching them on a daily basis.
7 When the phone rings and a friend is calling to let us know that the new grandchild (a girl) arrived in the middle of the night.
8 The neighbor up the "holler" who plows out our driveway in the winter, unasked and refuses any payment except a blue berry pie.
9 The people on OPP who are willing and happy to carry on conversations without the vitriol and h**e that so many others show those who do not agree.
10 The gifts from God, whether in the whispers of the Angels, or the thunder of Heaven where a game of 9 pins is being played on a daily basis.(see The Legend of Sleepy Hollow for reference)

I love animals. Especially cats, dogs, rabbits, goats, and Mama hen with chicks.

When I was growing up we had a Mama goat. She had 2 siblings. They ate most plants around. In fact our lawn was always trimmed when they graced on it. But the Mama goat will horn you at the back while you're turning away. The two baby goats were so beautiful.

Last June, I had the oil change for my car at the Toyota dealer shop. I was waiting in a room while the service was being done. A guy with a cute bulldog came in. I was surprised that the dog came to me, jumped on my lap and licked my face. I was so embarrassed. I thought I might have smelled something. The owner apologized. Though I enjoyed cuddling the dog. He was so cute about 15 lb. Why do strange dog come to me? Then I was called my car was done. I had to leave. The dog followed me a little and his owner called him.
