We drove back to lovely Massachusetts last week and while driving to my brother's house saw the signs to Walden Pond.
Walden Pond was a place I used to go swimming at with my Dad. We drove out there and stopped to ponder what it was all about, what Thoreau wrote about as he lived and loved his isolated live on that pristine pond.
The first thing we noticed was as we drove by was that the "pond" was walled off with brick and concrete walkways with gates that said "do not enter without permission".
And then we drove into the parking lot that told us what we had to pay to "visit" Walden Pond.
Massachusetts people could pay $11.00 to "visit" Walden Pond.
But the strangest thing for me (who was born, raised and educated in Massachusetts) was that "any car that has an out of state license plate has to pay $22 double"!!
So, if any of you want to visit 'Walden Pond' in Massachusetts, you will have to pay double, if you aren't from there.
Henry David Thoreau wold be rolling in his grave, imo.
Welcome to liberal lala land where they rip you off at every opportunity, For your own good, of course

So this is what "spread the wealth" means? "Spread your wealth if you're not from here"??
Or...."spread your wealth" and then go home...
I'll not be going back to "Taxachusetts" ever again...

It is a state park that charges non residents a $16 parking fee, you can walk in for free. Vehicle registration covers part of the maintenance of state parks so residents with Mass tags pay a reduced parking fee. As an aside isn’t it funny how well some words go together? Cheep, and prick come to mind.
