Apollo 11 LEM pilot Buzz Aldrin salutes the flag. 1st landing on the moon.
Apollo 17 CDR Eugene Cernan salutes the flag. Last landing on the moon.
Armstrong, Aldrin and Colllins, post-flight press conference.
I was glued to the television set along with all of my family the day of the moon landing. 2001 a space odyssey was a top film and we were all very proud of our country's achievement.

Tom, at that moment...right after hearing Armstrong's famous words... all of us in that bunker felt inches taller and our hearts were bursting with p***e in being Americans.

That was a moment in American history where nearly the entire world was cheering for us. In Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, Africa, Europe, Japan, Philippines, South Korea, people were glued to TVs in their homes, bars, restaurants, offices, shops, and in the streets waving American f**gs and watching the ticker marquees. When the Apollo 11 crew went on their world tour, everywhere they went they. the people gave them gifts, back slaps, hand shakes, and they were telling the astronauts, "WE did it."
In every case in which Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins were interviewed about their historic mission, they always gave the credit to president Kennedy for the challenge and the American people who made it happen. Over 400,000 Americans worked on the Apollo project. Armstrong particularly was most humble about his role. He was in the right place at the right time, said any of the other guys could have done it.

I watched a documentary featuring some of the folks who made the lunar landing possible, one of them said "this is what can be accomplished when the whole Nation works towards the same goal".
Am I the only one that liked that Buzz Aldrin punched that guy in the face?
Everyone needs a good smack now and then. This was his time. lol
