One of the Obama-era leaders of Immigration and Customs Enforcement says Democrats upset at what they call “cages” housing children who crossed the border illegally should focus their anger where it belongs — on former President Barack Obama.

Thomas Homan spoke Thursday at a conference sponsored by the Center for Immigration Studies.

During the Democratic p**********l debate on Wednesday night, meanwhile, former Rep. Beto O’Rourke of Texas resurrected the long-running issue of youth detention.

As reported by the Texas Tribune, O’Rourke said that if he were to be elected president, “We will not put kids in cages.”

According to Homan, President Donald Trump did not build the facilities where the migrant children are being housed.

In fact, they were never intended to house children, he said, but have been pressed into service because of an unprecedented rise in children crossing the border.

“I’ve been to that facility, where they talk about cages. That facility was built under President Obama under [Homeland Security] Secretary Jeh Johnson,” Homan, who was executive associate director of ICE under Obama before serving as acting director of ICE under Trump for about 17 months, said. “I was there when it was built.”...

From the post is it fair to assume that you think it is wrong to cage people and separate refugee children from their families. Obama is no longer President, your I***t Pumpkinfuhrer is, so it is now both his prerogative and responsibility to immediately end the practice.

"Obama is no longer President your I***t Pumpkinfuhrer is so it is now both his prerogative and responsibility. "
It takes awhile for Republicans to clean up a mess Democrats created.
Thanks for bringing that up, Kevyn.

Nice diversion there, my friend.

The "cages" are not the issue here. They were never intended to hold the number of people that they do now, for as long as they are holding people now, and certainly not children.

The issue is the current administration's policy of separating children from their families. I find it cruel and immoral. For the life of me, I do not see how conservative Christians square this man's actions with their faith and support of this president.

No. That’s not at all what he meant as you well know and as I’ve said before, Trump was not the first to separate children and as I’ve also said before, those children don’t all come in with their birth parents. Some of them have been borrowed as Obama did his daughters, and some have been stolen and their parents may be searching for them. They are used as tools to get in here. I’m sure you are aware of that. I promised to ignore you, but some things must be answered.

If cages aren't the problem then what is?

The policy is the same, gee we all told it was fine when Obama did it but now it's a problem.

So how many children were placed in cages under Obama's presidency? BTW, under Obama migrant families caught illegally entering the U.S. were usually referred for civil deportation proceedings, not requiring separation, unless they were known to have a criminal record. So for what reason would Obama see the need for cages to separate children from parents?

Well, there you go.................Obama started it.

I find it amusing to watch Trumpites whenever their God is criticized, they use the same cover every time...................."Hillary Clinton!", "Barack Obama!". That's like the defense for a bank robber, " other people robbed that bank before I did ".

Why do you keep defending "your party" Pete? They don't care about you. They've kicked you to the curb and traded you in for wetbacks, and f*gs. Didn't you watch the debates?

Pedro no comprende.
Coming in second would be OK with him if he understood what was happening to "his" party.
