So what are we supposed to believe? According to the report intelligence cyber warfare units are afraid to even tell Trump for a very well founded fear that anything they brief him on concerning Russia will get to the Kremlin... very believable considering that Trump has leaked intelligence to Russians on several occasions.

When Obama left office cyber warfare was a very real thing, there is an active unit, and Trump may know next to nothing about that or our capabilities...he has voiced an opposition to hearing anything about Russian cyber attacks, intelligence has been repeatedly told not to mention it as it flips Trump out...so my guess is they haven't, why would they?

So given Trump's recent reaction to news that Kim Jong Un's brother was a CIA asset, that that sort of thing would not have happened on his watch (why not?)...what would Trump's reaction be to finding out that we have very aggressive cyber warfare capabilities. If embedding software "bombs" to be used at a selected time is a thing, would Trump interfere and say no way you are doing this to a country I am trying to forge a good relationship with.

This leak may be part of a cyber cold war strategy, intentionally letting the adversary know things as a fear balancing technique.

It's impossible to know what to think, believers will jump to a belief that fits their beliefs and faith in Trump, and there is no way that has any credibility, because quite frankly Trump does not have the trust and credibility to even be told by our intelligence what the reality is...especially given that he has his own preconceived beliefs about Putin and Russia and he won't believe reality and facts anyway....

How do you get facts through to a president who has no use for facts that he doesn't want to hear?

This dancing around reality and facts with an issue that involves intelligence and what Trump wants to represent as the t***h is going to get incredibly hairy and complicated. People are never going to know what to believe... I won't believe anything but what intelligence wants to represent to congress, because no matter what they tell Trump he is going to represent it with a filter about wh**ever Putin wants to say is the t***h. I truly think intelligence could report very well supported facts corroborated by allied intelligence and Trump will ask Putin and go by what Putin wants to say. Trump has already on multiple occasions said he believes Putin over our intelligence.

And I'll say another thing here, I actually feel safer knowing that we have intelligence agencies dealing with the security of this country that have figured out that there are things Trump or his security risk prone family do not have access to, that cyber warfare is capable of proceeding without Trump knowing anything about it.

The man is a security threat and menace to this country.

The NYT is not to be trusted. They've been busted too many times for publishing false stories.

My guess is that intelligence "leaked" directly or through a cutout to the NYT because reporting directly to the president would get nowhere.

A fair speculation is that intelligence thinks things could be heating up to where the public needs to be properly made aware. There have been little things said here and there in reports to congress that there is a substantial threat to our infrastructure.

It's something we need to be paying attention to, and it should worry everyone what we will be told.

My guess is that this junk comes from anonymous sources too.

Don't believe everything you read, even if its what you want.

Do you ever get tired of being manipulated?

As opposed to your I***t Pumpkinfuhrer who is a bastion of t***h? The Times has a well earned reputation for great integrity when they rarely make a mistake they print a retraction as soon as it comes to their attention. The story they printed was cleared with the White House before it was published. Trump as always is needlessly muddying the water with his brazen lies.

The cold war was all about the enemy knowing exactly what we could do, it was part of what went on. The NY Times was given this story for a reason, perhaps it has something to do with jerking Putin's chain since Trump doesn't have what it takes to do it.

T***p w*n't be part of sending the message to Putin to knock the cyber crap the hell off, so this sends the message.

Actually I really do think intelligence is going around Trump, he is too stupid to bring into cyber games with Russia...he flat won't listen to intelligence briefings to where he can understand what's going on, never mind he thinks he knows and already made up his mind to trust Putin rather than our intelligence.

There is reality to this, and it will serve to point out either how out of the loop or c*********d Trump is, let the Trump blundering begin. My guess is he's pretty ticked off at the idea he isn't being told anything about this.
