As reported by the Associated Press, this executive order directs federal agencies to reduce or eliminate regulations and oversight mechanisms that might help ensure the safety of genetically engineered crops.

"Last week, the U.S. Department of Agriculture proposed changing its regulations in a way that would mean much of the genetically modified corn and soy grown in the U.S. today would not necessarily have been subject to special oversight." https://www.apnews.com/2895e0f0ef344d16bfcf6f457ed2e759

"In addition, the new streamlining would relax regulatory oversight of genetically engineered animals."

"Those of us who care deeply about health freedom and food t***sparency do not make unreasonable demands. ...We want safety oversight on genetically engineered foods and pesticides, along with honest food labeling."

What do you say about this action on the part of President Trump????

While other countries outlaw GMO we pass laws where we don't even know when we are eating it. At the same time can food now comes with an expiration date. I don't know of any other agency where every member has financial ties to the industry it is suppose to regulate. Corruption times ten.

Its a bad move by Trump. Another win for Big Agriculture and Monsanto. Another reason we need to get rid of lobbies or at least makenit illegal to appoint former lobbyists to government positions. Thats what happened at the USDA

Where do we draw the line between absolutely essential regulation and unnecessary bureaucratic red tape? The answer, I believe, depends on what is being regulated and the goal of the regulations. Where public safety is concerned, an abundance of caution is absolutely required - industry has an extremely poor safety record, where profit almost always outranks safety concerns.

Our history is rife with horror stories whereby irreparable harm has been done to our citizens, resulting in "after-the-fact" regulations meant to prevent such from happening again. Remember thalidomide, dioxin, black lung? These are just a few of the 1000's of such events. What happens is; time causes memory lapses, where we forget WHY certain regulations were created, and industry ( and the lawmakers they bribe, I mean, lobby ) begin to focus exclusively on the "cost" to the industry and the expense of government oversight.

IMHO, no regulation, regardless of it's target, should be eliminated or watered down without open debate and public input...................especially where public safety, or the potential for harm, is concerned. Regulation should not be used to punish industry ( or citizens ), or to pursue political agendas.....................nor should deregulation be used as such.

The GMO products are designed by evil empire money.

They should be under heavy regulatory oversight.

I don't like this move.

It seems odd that we worry about genetically altered food, but every day we eat tons of all kinds of chemicals and dyes that are man-made and many are known to make you sick. One called Red Dye number 2 caused cancer, may still be in lots of foods. Just adding the term "food coloring" gives a pass to just about anything added to our food. Now we are all going to eat artificial meat! Lord knows what's in it that to make grass taste like beef!

I am glad that we all seem to be on the same side of this issue. Regulation has a place in society.

It is exactly what I expect. This is a man who can afford healthy high quality healthy food for himself and family and yet chooses to wash down crappy hamburders from fast food joints and Taco Bell slop troughs with gallons of Diet Coke. Does anyone have any expectation that he has the slightest concern for the health and nutrition of American families? He just blindly does the bidding of his patrons.

I say it's a matter that needs to be legislated, Trump is taking it upon himself to create legislation that would never fly. We've had fight after fight about GMO products, and many countries ban them and will not buy them from us.

Common sense would consider the concept of eating grain from plants that thrive on roundup truly moronic. It doesn't take a scientist to know that plants take up chemicals that are in their fruit.

Like I was saying, plants that thrive on roundup? You know chemicals are in the end product.

We get whole grass fed beef from cows grown locally, once you have that it's hard to buy beef from the store, it tastes way different. We also butchered two of our Scottish Highland cows and split them with a neighbor.

We don't use roundup, my wife found something that has natural ingredients that k**ls weeds, that and a weedeater and a push trimmer.

Read up on Monsanto and what they do. You won’t find much in the MSM. This is why we need alternative news sites.

Monsanto gets away with murder and our government - both parties - lets them.

Rose, you're absolutely right, Monsanto is responsible for producing "Round Up" weed k**ler, and have recently had a 2 billion dollar judgement against them for it causing Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Many of these evil empires need to be bashed up a bit.

I have known about them for years. When they started making frankenfood other countries had the good sense to ban it. We on the other hand embraced it along with roundup.
