OPEN BORDERS & I*****L I*********N: A Highly Organized C*******t Plot to Destroy the USA

Deep State T*****rs Infesting the U.S. Federal Government Must Be Exposed
http://themillenniumreport.com/2019/05/open-borders-illegal-immigration-a-highly-organized-c*******t-plot-to-destroy-usa/

The whole world has watched Merkel, Macron and May destroy Europe by stealthily implementing the g*******t scheme to remove national borders throughout the Eurozone.

Nation and after nation has fallen prey to this secret plot to t***sform the European Union (EU) into a totalitarian c*******t superstate. See European Union Exposé: A Planned Totalitarian Superstate to Destroy Europe

With this crucial understanding, it ought to be easier to comprehend that the very same nefarious conspiracy is being covertly implemented by the New World Order g*******t cabal in these United States of America.

Mexico to the south and Canada to the north are both playing integral roles in the systematic destruction of America’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity… similar to how the treasonous Schengen Agreement has erased the borders on the European Continent. The EU government even went so far as to demand offending nations terminate all border controls. See: EU Orders Austria, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway to Stop Border Controls

The American border crisis
Truly, it does not get any more serious than the ever-burgeoning crisis at the Mexican border. The daily invasion of i*****l a***ns is worse than ever and still getting more out of control by the month.

Even a seemingly determined President Trump has been unable to build his promised wall or shut down the caravans that are streaming into the USA at will.

How is it that the POTUS cannot even control the borders of this country?!?!

Here’s why … in a nutshell. But please be aware that there are many reasons why the Democrats and Republicans want open borders; what follows are the two primary [ECONOMIC] reasons.

First and foremost, it’s of paramount importance to understand that The USA is the Military Arm of the New World Order. As such, the U.S. Armed Services desperately need recruits (read: cannon fodder). The U.S. Military machine is spread out across the planet and requires LOTs of service members to keep the war-making juggernaut running. It’s important to note that the Armed Forces really function collectively as the CIA’s enforcement agency for Corporate America. For in the end, all wars really are banker’s wars since the banksters are always protecting their business interests both at home and abroad.

The only way to provide the proper staffing of the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard is to offer special deals to the i*****l a***ns pouring across the borders. That’s why there is always a highly disproportionate number of young men and older male teens riding the caravan trains and trucks northward.

These future soldiers are all offered an accelerated path to citizenship after completing a tour of duty in the various U.S.-created war zones around the world. Of course, they are also given all the benefits that American vets receive including subsidized health care, education, etc. post-military service.

BOTTOM LINE: Does anyone really think that such a necessary pipeline of military recruits will be stopped for even a moment? Especially in light of the current anti-war climate, both the Left and Right are unwilling to fight the endless unprovoked wars of naked aggression for the U.S. Corporation. While the liberal snowflakes are simply afraid to pick up a gun, the conservatives want to defend America, not some far-off country who has done the USA no harm.

Remember, these are only the economic reasons why an utterly treasonous U.S. Congress has unlawfully pushed this treacherous open border and i*****l i*********n agenda. The other intentions are far more devastating to American society and driven by the clandestine formation of the North American Union.

BORDERgate: Soros-Funded Border Crashing All About Covert Formation of North American Union
The second economic reason is directly related to the staffing of Corporate America. The typical American worker is much more expensive than they used to be. So much of the nation’s manufacturing base and vital industries have been off-shored to China, Mexico, India, Philippines, Vietnam, etc. because of this reality. Paying American labor costs is simply not competitive in the extremely cost-cutting global marketplace that’s always looking for cheap labor.

As a result, the hidden forces deeply embedded throughout the Fortune 1000 companies push very hard — every single day — via their cadres of lobbyists swarming inside the Beltway. These highly paid corporate advocates for open borders and i*****l i*********n are both powerful and numerous. And, they remind every single member of Congress that the only reason why they are re-elected to office is due to the hefty corporate campaign contributions.

Really, what elected representative at the federal level can possibly resist that type of financial pressure? The fiscal demands of running a campaign are so great these days you almost have to be a millionaire to run … … … or be backed by a bunch of billionaires if you run for POTUS.

In view of this stark reality, the starving Democrats will do wh**ever they’re told by their big donors who absolutely love open borders for their businesses, just as the corporate-controlled Republicans have never been known to turn down a donation from a Fortune 500 sponsor or Military-Industrial Complex corporation.

The BOTTOM LINE here, again, is that the corporate pressure exerted on Congress not to enforce i*********n l*ws is enormous, as are the stealthy efforts to keep the borders a virtual sieve. In fact, were the American people to know that back story of this ongoing collective betrayal, every member of Congress would be frogmarched out of the Capitol Building before they were hung from the gallows. Even many who appear to fight for We the People in this regard are surreptitiously working to keep the borders wide open. See Why did Trump pick a hardcore anti-Trumper to implement immigration and border security policies?! (Video)...

Sorry, I couldn’t watch all the video. All I can say is WITHOUT A FIGHT! How sick is this. All they need is a “misguided” military. Take a good look at Venezuela’s military.

The C*******t PARTY usa
Democrats Allow C*******ts to Infiltrate Their Party Across the Nation

democrat f**g democrats c*******ts nation partyThe C*******t Party USA (CPUSA) is infiltrating the Democratic Party across the country. C*******ts, some openly, some secretly, are working in Democratic campaigns, holding Democratic Party leadership positions, and even running for public office on the Democratic Party b****t line.

They also are pushing their policies inside the Democratic Party, to the point where it’s almost impossible to distinguish between the CPUSA and Democratic Party programs. Many comrades work closely with influential congressmembers or U.S. senators.

The CPUSA supports China, Cuba, Venezuela, and the Russian C*******t Party—all enemies of the United States. The CPUSA still advocates for the “o*******w of the capitalist class” in the United States, yet the Democrats do absolutely zilch to keep the c*******ts out of their party.

CPUSA infiltration of the Democratic Party is widespread—it affects every region where the c*******ts have a significant presence.

Support and Infiltration
In the San Diego area, two CPUSA members, Carl Wood and Emiliana Sparaco, recently ran for the California Democratic Party Central Committee, from Assembly Districts 76 and 80, respectively.

Wood, a lifelong c*******t, intended to push for the “Healthy California Act that provides improved Medicare for All, a Living Wage of at least $15/hour, the Green New Deal for a healthy environment with good new jobs in a peace economy, and legislation to promote strong Unions.” In 1999, California’s then-Democratic Gov. Gray Davis appointed Wood to a six-year term on the California Public Utilities Commission, where he “played a significant role in protecting California from the consequences of its disastrous deregulation experiment.”

Sparaco, a former leader of the Young C*******t League, traveled to Sochi, Russia, in October 2017, as part of a U.S. c*******t delegation to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Bolshevik Revolution—keynoted by Vladimir Putin himself. In 2018, Sparaco was a leading activist in Flip the 49th, which helped Democrat Mike Levin win California’s 49thCongressional District.

In Northern California, Sacramento area Democratic Rep. Ami Bera, who serves on the House Foreign Relations Committee, has won several super-close e******ns with c*******t help. For example, in 2014, CPUSA members Juan Lopez, Cassie Lopez, Michelle Kern, Nell Ranta, and Mik Diddams canvassed and phone-banked out of Bera’s campaign headquarters.

Further up the left coast in rural Washington state, c*******ts Tim and Joyce Wheeler and Tim’s sister Marion “Honeybee” Wheeler Burns have been active in the Clallam County Democrats for decades. They campaigned for Barack Obama, U.S. Sen. Patty Murray, and local Rep. Derek Kilmer. Tim traveled to international c*******t gatherings for many years as editor of the CPUSA’s People’s World. His father, Don Wheeler, betrayed American secrets to Moscow during World War II while working for U.S. intelligence.

Over in Minnesota, local CPUSA leaders the late Doris and Erwin Marquit were very active inside the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (Minnesota’s Democratic Party affiliate). The couple helped raise funds for congressional aspirant Keith Ellison in their home three times. In 2006, they used their political influence to help get Ellison elected to Congress.

Another Minnesota c*******t, Mark Froemke, is very active in the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party. Froemke has enjoyed good relations with former Minnesota Sen. Al Franken and former Gov. Mark Dayton.

Swinging down to Chicago, we see CPUSA members such as Pepe Lozano working in the successful Chuy Garcia for Congress campaign. CPUSA member Abdul-Aziz Hassan has worked for 22nd Ward Alderman Ricardo Munoz, a Democrat, for several years. Even CPUSA leader John Bachtell once served as a precinct chairman for U.S. Senate candidate Obama.

In Ohio, former CPUSA chairman Rick Nagin worked inside the Democratic Party for decades. In 2006, Nagin was on the staff of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations 2006 campaign that first elected Sherrod Brown. Nagin also worked closely with Rep. Dennis Kucinich for many years. Nagin has run several times for public office on the Democratic Party ticket and served as the Democratic Leader in Cleveland Ward 14 and on the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party Executive Committee.

In St. Louis, the CPUSA has worked closely with many black Democratic candidates through its front group the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists. Longtime CPUSA member Glenn Burleigh is very active in the Democratic Party and has managed several Democratic campaigns, including Robin Wright-Jones for State Senate and Lewis Reed for St. Louis mayor. Missouri CPUSA leader Tony Pecinovsky will be standing for St. Louis Alderman in 2020, presumably as a Democrat.

Over in New York City, the c*******ts have been working inside the Democratic Party since at least the 1930s.

Former c*******t Dan Margolis was active in New York City e******ns, including as the mid-Staten Island coordinator for the 2004 Democratic Party congressional campaign.

According to Margolis’s blog: “I ended up working on many Democratic campaigns during by time in the CPUSA: John Kerry’s, Obama’s twice, [Senator] Kirsten Gillibrand’s, Fernando Ferrer’s (he nearly beat Michael Bloomberg to become mayor of NYC), and a host of others known mostly to NYC residents. I am proud to say that I wrote the first official document in the CPUSA calling for support of Obama in the primaries: I wrote this as chair of the party in Brooklyn, in 2007.”

In 2014, the CPUSA’s Elizabeth Gurley Flynn Club wrote: “Sometimes, we must be free to disagree with Democrats on selected issues, even those whom we have supported, such as Obama on a national level, Jerrold Nadler, a progressive congressman from Manhattan, and Bill DeBlasio, who is New York City’s new progressive mayor. For example, we should be free to advocate a general reduction of our country’s military and to disagree with the Obama Administration’s expansion of some sections of our military forces.”

Across the river in New Jersey, c*******ts such as Estevan Nembhard and Carol Widom were active in Democrat Ras Baraka’s successful 2014 campaign for the mayoralty of Newark. Baraka is the son of one-time CPUSA member Amina Baraka.

Connecticut is the CPUSA’s “jewel in the crown.” The party almost runs the state. The CPUSA is close to Gov. Ned Lamont, as it was to his predecessor Dannel Malloy. Both U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Sen. Chris Murphy are close to the party. Sen. Murphy employed CPUSA member Max Goldman as an aide for nearly three years, while serving on the highly sensitive Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Rep. Rosa DeLauro is very close to CPUSA Connecticut leader Joelle Fishman and her husband Art Perlo—the son of Roosevelt-era Soviet spy ring leader Victor Perlo. In 2012, DeLauro helped organize birthday celebrations for veteran Connecticut c*******t Al Marder. Comrade Marder is so well regarded in international c*******t circles that he was invited to Moscow in June 2015 to help the Russian C*******t Party celebrate the anniversary of the Soviet defeat of N**i Germany. Marder even got a big hug from then-Russian C*******t Party leader Gennady Zyuganov.

Three other Connecticut congressmembers, Jim Himes (House Intelligence Committee), Joe Courtney (House Armed Services Committee), and John B. Larson work closely with the CPUSA front group Connecticut Alliance for Retired Americans. Even freshman Rep. Jahana Hayes had veteran c*******t Len Yannielli working in her campaign office.

Down in Texas, the situation is not much better. In Dallas, local c*******t leader Gene Lantz is very active in the Democratic Party and the Texas Alliance for Retired Americans. Lantz is close to Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology) and is friends with Rep. Marc Veasey (House Armed Services Committee).

In Houston, local CPUSA leader Bernard Sampson doubles as a Democratic Party precinct chairman. The Houston CPUSA ran several comrades for public office in 2018 on the Democratic ticket (it’s illegal to run for office as a c*******t in Texas).

Comrade Ali Khorasani ran for Congress in Texas District 2 but was defeated in the primary. C*******t Penny Shaw ran for a seat on the Harris County Commission but lost with 45 percent of the v**e. Party member Sema Hernandez ran a shoestring campaign in the Texas U.S. Senate primary and managed to secure a respectable 250,000 v**es.

And this is just the open or easily identifiable members. As a conspiratorial revolutionary organization, the CPUSA keeps much of its membership secret. The CPUSA almost certainly has many secret members and supporters in key positions throughout the Democratic Party.

Opposition
Millions of grassroots Democrat v**ers are strongly opposed to c*******m. Many are descendants of families who fled c*******m in Eastern Europe, China, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Cuba. Many lost friends or family fighting c*******m in Vietnam. Many are Catholic, informed of the evils from c*******m at an early age by their priests, bishops, and popes.

Most would be horrified to know that c*******ts are working openly and secretly at every level of their cherished Democratic Party.

The Democratic Party knows the identities of most of its c*******t members. The Democrats do more than turn a blind eye; they welcome the revolutionaries into their party.

The Democrats have spent the last two years bashing President Donald Trump for having ties to Russia. Yet the Democrats are willing to tolerate pro-China c*******ts actively working within their own party.

By allowing c*******ts to stand for office on their ticket, Democrats are c***ting the American v**er. By allowing c*******ts to work closely with Democratic congressmembers and senators, they are endangering national security.

The CPUSA is more interested in a one world government that bringing c*******m into America. The Democratic Party has not been infiltrated; they welcomed c*******ts with open arms.

(Video)...

Funny how much of the same occurs here also.....Must be a universal thing..

This an Interesting and Different Point of View from Britain......

R****t - Me?
A thought-provoking passage was written by an Englishwoman about the current situation in HER homeland (?) - this is thought-provoking and is equally relevant in any other country.

I have been wondering about why w****s are r****ts, and no other race is?

There are British Africans, British Chinese, British Asian, British Turks, etc, etc, etc.

And then there are just British. You know what I mean, plain ole English people that were born here. You can include the Welsh, the Scottish and the people who live off our shores of Great Britain on tiny islands. Yes, we are all true Brits.

The others that live here call me 'White boy,' 'C*****r,' 'Honkey,' 'Whitey,' 'Caveman' 'White trash' and that's OK...

But if I call you, N****r, Spade, Towel head, Paki, Camel Jockey, Beaner, Gook or Chink, you call me a r****t.

You say that w****s commit a lot of violence against you. So why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?

You have the Muslim Council of Great Britain.
You have Black History Month.
You have swimming pools for Asian women.
You have Islamic banks for Muslims only.
You have a year of the d**gon day for Chinese people.

If we had a White P***e Day, you would call us r****ts.
If we had White History Month, we'd be r****ts.
If we had any organization for only w****s to 'advance' OUR lives, we'd be r****ts.

A white woman could not be in Miss Black Britain or Miss Asia, but any colour can be in the Miss UK.

If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships, you know we'd be r****ts

There are over 200 openly proclaimed Muslim only schools in England. Yet if there were 'White schools only', that would be r****t!

In the Bradford r**ts and Toxteth r**ts, you believed that you were standing up for your race and rights. If we stood up for our race and rights, you would call us r****ts.

You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white p***e, you call us r****ts.

We fly our f**g, we are r****ts. If we celebrate St George's day we are r****ts.

You can fly your f**g and it’s called diversity. You celebrate your cultures and it’s called m**************m.

You rob us, carjack us, and rape our daughters. But, when a white police officer arrests a black gang member or beats up an Asian drug dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a r****t.

I am proud.... but you call me a r****t.

Why is it that only w****s can be r****ts??

I sadly don't think many will send this on. That's why we have LOST most of OUR RIGHTS in this country. We won't stand up for ourselves!

BEING PROUD TO BE WHITE!
It's not a crime, YET... but it's getting very close!

Obama Tried To RAILROAD Trump On Immigration
It’s amazing how polarizing the subject of i*****l i*********n can be.

This hot-button issue has drawn a line in the sand and forced people to pick a side. If you’re a Democrat, you’re fine with i*****l i*********n. If you’re a Republican, you’re against it.

The fundamental difference comes down to whether you believe that i*****l i*******ts put American citizens in danger – both physically and financially.

But the facts are hard to deny…

Physically, there has been a surge in crimes – many including violence and murder – perpetrated by i*****l i*******ts. One simple Google search will provide you with some surprising, yet scary, results.

Financially, i******s can hurt American citizens by using much-needed funding that should be set aside for our own people – not another country’s poor.

Not to mention those jobs that often go to i*****l i*******ts instead of an American. All told, it becomes abundantly clear why SOMETHING needs to be done to stop the flood of what is reported to be more than a million people a year coming into the US illegally.

Conservatives WANT Immigrants to Come to the US… LEGALLY!
Now…

Just like Trump says – there are some VERY good people coming across the border as well. People who aren’t looking to cause trouble and just want a chance at a better life.

We understand that things in their home countries aren’t ideal – and we don’t mind if they immigrate to our great nation. After all, we have plenty of room! However, the ONLY thing we ask is that they do so LEGALLY.

It’s only fair that they get vetted and show that they can be a value to our society…

Almost EVERY other immigrant that comes from another country that isn’t a part of the American continents has to do exactly that. Proximity to the US shouldn’t give someone the right to skip the line.

Trump has said the same thing, many times…

Yet the Left STILL views him as anti-immigrant. He’s not. He wants immigrants to come here – LEGALLY.

This isn’t a new view…

OTHER presidents have often said the same thing. With one of the most ardent supporters for immigration reform being the Left’s chosen Messiah, Barack Hussein Obama.

Obama Did WHAT?!
Yes, THAT Obama. An argument could be made that he was even TOUGHER on i*****l i*******ts than Trump has been. After all, he deported more i******s than Trump has in the same amount of time in office…

Yet the Left still calls Trump the “anti-immigration president”.

That’s probably because of the fact that Obama had his staff DELETE all of his immigration crisis speeches just HOURS before Trump’s inauguration.

Yes, in the very twilight of his time in the Oval Office, Obama had his staffers at Immigration and Customs Enforcement removed literally HUNDREDS of his speeches—some dating as far back as

2004— from their website.

Why do you think that is?

Is it because he wanted to get out in front of something he knew was going to be a hot-button issue for Trump?

He wanted to make himself look better than Trump in some way, even when some of the remarks he’s made have been WAY worse.

According to a watchdog group, The Sunlight Foundation, the transcripts were full of “prepared remarks submitted to congressional committees, often on controversial topics like the standard of medical treatment for detainees, treatment of unaccompanied children, sanctuary cities, drug trafficking, and E-Verify.”

The group also says that all of the references to these speeches were taken down between the early afternoon of January 18th and late into the evening of January 19th – stopping just a few hours before our current president was inaugurated.

What would you say this was?

Just a cleaning up of the office?

Getting rid of clutter, if you will?

Or was it a concerted effort to erase Obama’s REAL stance on i*****l i*********n?

What was he afraid of?

Is appearing to have the same viewpoint as Trump really THAT much of a problem?

It makes you wonder…

If Obama was sneaky enough to hide something as benign as speeches and transcripts on immigration…

What would he do to information that could REALLY get him in hot water – like his knowledge of Russian e******n i**********e?

Who knows?

Either way, gut instinct says AG Barr will get to the bottom of it…

The Chinese military refrained from doing so at Tiananmen Square 30 years ago and those are Godless c*******ts. Of course, there was hell to pay afterward, and they rounded up the dissidents, with many sent to prison. As long as there are people who want power, beware! We seem to be headed in that direction if the left gets back in power, or they repeal the Second Amendment.

Look what is happening in Hong Kong.

NERMEEN SHAIKH: We begin today’s show in Hong Kong, where authorities have shut down government offices and postponed debate in the Legislative Council, one day after r**t police fired tear gas, rubber bullets and pepper spray at tens of thousands of demonstrators who took to the streets to protest a bill that would allow the extradition of Hong Kong residents to mainland China. On Wednesday, demonstrators attempted to storm the Legislative Council Building, where lawmakers are debating the extradition bill. Human Rights Watch criticized Hong Kong authorities for using what it described as “excessive force” to suppress peaceful demonstrations. Protesters described the police using indiscriminate force.

KATY LAM: The Hong Kong police actually fired tear gas towards the crowd, while no people are showing any symptoms of attacking. So, they’re just doing it. We think that they are trying to oppress our rights of expressing our opinion, and actually oppressing the freedom.

AMY GOODMAN: This came days after as many as a million protesters marched in Hong Kong against the extradition bill Sunday. The protests are some of the largest Hong Kong has seen since before Britain’s handover of Hong Kong in 1997. Since then, Hong Kong has operated under a different legal and political system as mainland China, a setup known as “one country, two systems.” Critics of the extradition bill say it would infringe on Hong Kong’s independence and the legal and human rights of Hong Kong residents, as well as the people visiting Hong Kong.

We go now to Hong Kong, where we’re joined by Mary Hui. She’s a Hong-Kong based writer, reporter for the news outlet Quartz. She has reported on the extradition bill and has been covering the mass protests.

Welcome to Democracy Now!, Mary. Can you start off by talking about the significance of this bill that was passed? Just explain it.

MARY HUI: Sure, and thank you for having me, Amy.

The significance of this bill, really, is that it will threaten Hong Kong’s prized judicial and legal independence. It is as Chris Patten, the former governor, has said: There needs to be a firewall between Hong Kong’s legal system and China’s. And with this bill, should it be passed, that firewall will be done away with. And it means that it is—it will mean the death of “one country, two systems,” because there will no longer be this firewall, and people will be—there is the possibility that people will be able to be extradited to China to face charges, where they face an uncertain fate as to whether they will face a fair trial or even have their human rights protected.

NERMEEN SHAIKH: Well, Mary Hui, could you outline what the key features of this proposed amendment is—are?

MARY HUI: Sure. So, as the law currently stands, Hong Kong has signed extradition treaties with 20 other jurisdictions, the U.S. being one of them. And what this law is trying to do is to work around that. And under the current law, the People’s Republic of China is actually explicitly ruled out as a place that people can be extradited to, and so there is no extradition at all to China under the current law.

And last year, there was a murder case. A young Hong Kong couple traveled to Taiwan. The boyfriend was accused of murdering the girlfriend and fled back to Hong Kong. And because China sees Taiwan as part of the People’s Republic of China, there is no extradition between Hong Kong and Taiwan. And so, the Hong Kong government has then come around and said, well, there is this major loophole in that this suspected murderer is not able to face any charges and won’t face justice.

And so they took this opportunity to say, “We have to reform and amend this bill to make sure that this person can—this suspected murderer can face charges and be brought to justice. And how do we do this? We plug this loophole”—in the language of the government—”by doing away with the restriction of the People’s Republic of China and saying that there can be one-off extradition agreements between Hong Kong and China.”

AMY GOODMAN: I want to read a recent tweet from the exiled Chinese writer Ma Jian, wrote, on Twitter, said, “At the Hong Kong literary festival in November, a friend accompanied me at all times, for fear I’d be secretly kidnapped and smuggled to China. If the extradition law passes, any critic of Xi’s regime could be legally, openly abducted. It would be the end of freedom in Hong Kong,” Ma Jian said. Your response, Mary Hui?

MARY HUI: I think that is a very, very reasonable fear. And people are afraid of that, not just writers of Chinese descent, but also foreigners. Hong Kong is a financial hub, an international media hub. There are lots of human rights advocacy groups here. And for them, if it means doing—if doing their work means angering China, then they will very likely be accused of committing a certain crime, and China will be able to find a way to have them extradited to face charges in China, in mainland China. And so, what this means is that China will be able to use this bill as retaliation against opponents, whether it’s Hong Kong Chinese or foreigners who are traveling to or based in Hong Kong.

NERMEEN SHAIKH: Mary, could you explain who’s behind this proposed amendment? And why is it being proposed now?

MARY HUI: Yes. So, really, who’s behind it is the Hong Kong government, but who’s behind the Hong Kong government is the Beijing government. The Hong Kong government has insisted that this is their own initiative. Chief Executive Carrie Lam has repeatedly said that, that this is her making, the Hong Kong government’s making, there is no instruction from the Chinese government, though the top official based in Hong Kong, the top Chinese official, has made the unusual move of trying to persuade Hong Kong politicians to back the extradition bill. So, as to whether China really isn’t behind this bill is uncertain, and I’m doubtful of that.

NERMEEN SHAIKH: Could you describe, Mary, the kinds of the protests that are taking place and the violent crackdown by the police in Hong Kong against the protesters?

MARY HUI: Mm-hmm. So, the protesters started gathering outside the central government offices on Tuesday night, local time here. And overnight, their numbers grew. And so, by the time I arrived at the protest scene, at about 9 a.m. during rush-hour traffic, tens of thousands of people had gathered and taken over just vast swaths of this highway outside of the central government offices.

And so, from the looks of it, it was calm, quiet for much of the morning. I was there until about 2 p.m. And really all I saw were protesters being very well organized. They had set up supply stations. They were collecting umbrellas to repel against pepper spray and tear gas that they were expecting to be fired at them. They were collecting water and medical supplies. They were erecting barriers around the protest site. They were handing out masks to passersby. People were insisting that I take their masks, as a journalist, because they expected tear gas to be fired. And so, people were—there was this sense of camaraderie. There wasn’t too much really going on at that point. At points, there was a sense of tension as police and the protesters just stood 10 meters away from each other, the frontline of the protesters, police in r**t gear. But really not much happened.

And it was not until around 3:30, local time here, that clashes broke out. I should say that by that time I had actually left the protest site. I had gone back to the newsroom for the rest of the day, so I did not personally see the clashes. But from what I’ve seen online, from videos that I’ve been watching, it really does not seem like protesters were the ones starting any kind of confrontation with the police. The police were trying to disperse them and ended up aggravating the crowd.

AMY GOODMAN: According to The New York Times, it’s estimated one in seven Hong Kong residents took part in Sunday’s protests. And in The New York Times on Monday, Hong Kong’s commissioner to the United States, Eddie Mak, outlined his government’s position, writing, “The Hong Kong government’s proposed amendments to extradition ilaws seek to enable us to effectively combat serious crimes by sealing the legal vacuum in our existing mechanism for surrendering fugitive offenders. They do not pinpoint any particular jurisdiction, nor do they target common citizens or affect the legal rights and freedoms of individuals.” If you could respond to that and the fact that the—what the Chinese authorities have done in the past, for example, the abducting of Hong Kong residents, five Hong Kong booksellers in 2015?

MARY HUI: Yes. There really is no trust of the Chinese government. With the protesters I’ve spoken to, that’s the one thing, really, that they have all mentioned, when I asked them, “What about the Hong Kong government’s amendments and assurances that your freedoms won’t be trampled upon?” And time and time again, the protesters tell me, “We don’t trust the Chinese C*******t Party, the Chinese government. It’s all a bunch of lies.” And so, any assurance that the freedom of speech, the freedom of assembly, as they exist in Hong Kong now, will not be trampled upon, I don’t think those assurances hold any water.

AMY GOODMAN: And those booksellers?

MARY HUI: And the booksellers, of course, there is that precedent of Chinese government coming in and essentially launching this global campaign, not just in Hong Kong, but elsewhere, of state-sponsored kidnapping. And so, with the booksellers, I think people have looked at that and seen how the Chinese government will behave without an extradition bill legalizing and legitimizing their behavior. And so, with the bill, I think what we’ll see is just this legitimizing of state-sponsored kidnapping, as some people have called it.

NERMEEN SHAIKH: Well, Mary, before we conclude, what do you expect to happen next? Will this amendment pass? And do you expect the protests to continue?

MARY HUI: Mm-hmm. So, the debate over the bill in the Legislature has been postponed until next week. It’s unsure whether protesters will come out again, though my gut feeling is that if the debate is to continue and a v**e is taken—and if a v**e is taken, it will very likely pass, given that the Legislature is stacked with pro-Beijing, pro-China parties and politicians. Should it pass, I’m sure the anger will boil over, the popular anger will boil over, and protesters will be out again to stand for their freedoms.

AMY GOODMAN: Mary Hui, I want to thank you for being with us, Hong-Kong based writer and reporter for the news outlet Quartz, reported on the extradition bill, has been covering the protests. We’ll continue, of course, to cover all.

In Tucson, Arizona, a jury has refused to convict humanitarian activist Scott Warren, who faced up to 20 years in prison for providing water, food, clean clothes and beds to two undocumented migrants crossing the Sonoran Desert in southern Arizona. Warren’s trial ended Tuesday in a mistrial after a deadlocked jury was unable to deliver a verdict. Eight jurors thought Warren was not guilty; four thought he was guilty. A status hearing is scheduled for July 2. Prosecutors have declined to comment on whether they would seek a retrial against Warren. We speak with Ryan Devereaux, a staff reporter at The Intercept who has covered Warren’s case extensively.

NERMEEN SHAIKH: In Tucson, Arizona, a jury has refused to convict humanitarian activist Scott Warren, who faced up to 20 years in prison for providing water, food, clean clothes and beds to two undocumented migrants crossing the Sonoran Desert in southern Arizona. Warren’s trial ended Tuesday in a mistrial after a deadlocked jury was unable to deliver a verdict. Eight jurors thought Warren was not guilty; four thought he was guilty. A status hearing is scheduled for July 2nd. Prosecutors have declined to comment on whether they would seek a retrial against Warren. Warren briefly spoke to supporters outside Tucson’s federal courthouse, where the hung jury was declared.

SCOTT WARREN: Since my arrest in January of 2018, at least 88 bodies were recovered from the Ajo corridor of the Arizona desert. We know that’s a minimum number and that many more are out there and have not been found. The government’s plan in the midst of this humanitarian crisis? Policies to target undocumented people, refugees and their families; prosecutions to criminalize humanitarian aid, kindness and solidarity; and now, where I live, the revelation that they will build an enormous and expensive wall across a vast stretch of southwestern Arizona’s unbroken Sonoran Desert.

Today it remains as necessary as ever for local residents and humanitarian aid volunteers to stand in solidarity with migrants and refugees. And we must also stand for our families, friends and neighbors, and the very land itself, most threatened by the militarization of our borderland communities.

I have received enormous support from family, friends, lawyers and my community. Thank you to everyone, and I want to say that I love you all very, very much.

SUPPORTER: We love you, Scott!

SCOTT WARREN: If you can, though, take a moment now and get some rest. But the other men arrested with me that day, José Sacaria-Goday and Kristian Perez-Villanueva, have not received the attention and outpouring of support that I have. I do not know how they are doing now, but I desperately hope that they are safe.

NERMEEN SHAIKH: Scott Warren is an activist with Ajo Samaritans and No More Deaths, which for years has left water and food in the harsh Sonoran Desert, where the temperature often reaches three digits during summer, to help refugees and migrants survive the deadly journey across the U.S. border. When Warren testified last week, he told jurors his actions were motivated by three intentions: relief of suffering, respect for human dignity and the right to self-determination. While presenting the case against Warren, U.S. Attorney Anna Wright said, quote, “He gave them food. He gave them water. … He did a bad thing. … This is not a case about deaths in the desert.”

AMY GOODMAN: Scott Warren was arrested January 17, 2018, just hours after No More Deaths released a report detailing how U.S. Border Patrol agents had intentionally destroyed more than 3,000 gallons of water left out for migrants crossing the border. The group also published a video showing border agents dumping out jugs of water in the desert. Hours after the report was published, authorities raided the Barn, a No More Deaths aid camp in Ajo, where they found two migrants who had sought temporary refuge.

We’re joined right now by Ryan Devereaux, staff reporter at The Intercept, who has closely covered Scott Warren’s trial and the criminalization of humanitarian aid volunteers for more than a year.

It’s great to have you back, Ryan. You’ve just flown back from Arizona, covering this trial that took about two weeks. Talk about the significance of the verdict. It’s a hung jury—eight for Scott Warren, four against.

RYAN DEVEREAUX: Correct. It was an outcome that I personally wasn’t expecting. I expected this was going to go one way or the other, guilty or not guilty. The hung jury, which came after three days of deliberation, was not something I think anybody was really expecting here. It was quite a turn to a case that’s already taken a lot of turns.

The story is not over for Scott Warren and his defense team. This is not necessarily a defeat, but it’s not a victory, either. We don’t yet know if the government is going to retry this case. As you mentioned at the top of the show, there’s a status hearing coming in July. So, a lot of the questions surrounding this case, its significance, the potential precedent it could set, are still alive. And that precedent includes the possibility of a broadened crackdown on humanitarian aid work in the desert, potential targeting of folks who have undocumented people in their lives, potential targeting of mixed-status families in the United States. There’s a whole lot on the line with respect to this case, and those questions are still very much alive.

NERMEEN SHAIKH: And you’ve said, Ryan, that the crucial question for the jury was about Scott Warren’s intention. Explain what that means and the significance of that for the fact that there was a mistrial.

RYAN DEVEREAUX: Yeah, so, 19 months after this arrest, we’ve seen a lot of evidence in this case, hundreds of filings. The government brought many witnesses, as did Scott’s defense team. But what it all really boiled down to was intent. Did Scott Warren intend to shield these men from law enforcement, knowing that he was in violation of the law? If so, the government argued, then he was guilty. Scott Warren’s attorneys said that, yeah, intent is critical to this, and Scott Warren’s intent in this case was to provide humanitarian aid, and that’s been his intent all along in working in the borderlands for the last four years.

So, jurors heard about how Scott behaved and what he did in the hours and days after these two young men arrived at the Barn, this humanitarian aid station in Ajo, Arizona. Scott Warren tended to the migrants’ feet. They had blisters on their feet. One was reporting sore ribs. He took down notes about their medical conditions. He called a doctor who the organization No More Deaths works with, has worked with for years, an award-winning physician. He reported the conditions that these young men were in. He was advised that they should stay off their feet and that they should rehydrate and that volunteers should keep an eye on them for the next few days.

The government, in its arguments in court over the last week, said that the notes that Scott Warren took during this period were part of a cover-up. They took these notes—No More Deaths, Scott—in order to be able to say that they were providing medical aid, when in fact they were just trying to help these men enter the country. They argued that Scott’s real intent is to thwart the Border Patrol at every turn.

AMY GOODMAN: Let’s go to Scott in his own words, talking about finding the remains of migrants who have died while crossing into the United States. This is a clip from The Intercept’s mini documentary titled Let Them Have Water.

SCOTT WARREN: We went from finding human remains every other month to like finding five sets of human remains on a single trip hiking through the Growler Valley and then going back a week later and finding two more sets of remains, and then, on a single day of searching, finding like eight sets of remains and bodies of people who had died in adjacent areas of the bombing range and on Cabeza Prieta. So just this like scale of this crisis, of the humanitarian crisis and the missing persons crisis, just blew wide open.

AMY GOODMAN: So, that’s Scott Warren. The government says this isn’t about deaths. But since 2001, at least 3,000 migrants have been found dead in the southern Arizona desert. Thousands of others have disappeared. Activists say the numbers are probably much higher. Talk about the government saying it’s not about deaths, and, of course, Scott Warren’s argument and the name of his organization, No More Deaths.

RYAN DEVEREAUX: Yeah, the government began this trial by arguing that this is not a case about humanitarian aid and deaths in the desert; this is a case about Scott Warren and Scott Warren’s actions. But what happened in the days that followed is the government put on many, many arguments about humanitarian aid and said that what No More Deaths and groups like it are doing is a political project, it’s not a humanitarian project. That’s false. Their entire goal is humanitarian aid. The government alleged that, in fact, these groups are political actors with political goals.

It’s important to keep in mind when we’re talking about all of this that the deaths in the desert are the result of a policy that began some 25 years ago under the Clinton administration. It’s called prevention through deterrence. And under this strategy, migrant populations are funneled into the deadliest parts of the desert. And increasingly in the last several years, that’s been the Ajo corridor, where Scott lives and works.

And beginning in 2014, Scott brought together a sort of network of humanitarian aid groups in the area to really start focusing on this region. And what they uncovered was just a pattern of death and disappearance that really rivaled anything else in the Sonoran Desert. So they started going out, dropping water and looking, often, for people who were reported missing or bodies that were reported. And they contributed to a historic increase in the number of remains and bodies found in that region during that particular time period. As that happened, the government escalated its crackdown on their work.

NERMEEN SHAIKH: Well, I just want to turn to Amnesty International America’s director, who has called for Warren’s charges to be dropped in light of the mistrial. She said, in a statement, quote, “The mistrial in the case of Dr. Scott Warren sends a clear message that there are people in the U.S.A. who refuse to acquiesce to the government’s attempts to criminalize compassion and humanitarian aid. As long as the U.S.A. and Mexico fail to protect the lives of migrants and asylum seekers between the two countries, human rights defenders like Scott Warren must be allowed to continue their necessary and life-saving work, unhampered by politically motivated harassment and prosecution.” So, Ryan, what do you think happens now?

RYAN DEVEREAUX: Well, now we wait. We see if the government is going to retry this case or not. But we should note that Scott Warren’s prosecution takes place against a backdrop of targeting of humanitarian aid workers, immigrant rights advocates across the border. Just this year, earlier this year, we saw lawyers, activists, journalists in the Tijuana-San Diego area, who had worked with members of the migrant caravan, targeted by a sweeping intelligence-gathering operation carried out by CBP, ICE and law enforcement in that area. So this is not confined just to Scott’s case. It’s part of the broader crackdown on immigrants that we’ve seen under the Trump administration.

AMY GOODMAN: Ryan Devereaux, we want to thank you so much for being with us, staff reporter at The Intercept, where he covers immigration enforcement, the drug war and national security. His most recent article, which we will link to at democracynow.org, “Felony Trial of No More Deaths Volunteer Scott Warren Ends in Mistrial.” In May, he published “Bodies in the Borderlands,” an extensive investigation into Scott Warren’s case.

Linking Trade and Security, Trump Scored Big on Southern Border

trade and security
On our southern border and globally, the Trump Administration is playing a deft game, methodically advancing American security interests by linking resolution to America’s powerful economy and trading relationships. To be clear, this is no mistake. And it is generating results.

Exhibit one is the recent agreement with Mexico – secured last Friday – to help reverse surging Central American economic migrants. The agreement – benefiting both nations – came after President Trump boldly threatened to put a five percent tariff on Mexican-origin goods and raise that tariff by five percent each month until it hit 25 percent.

The pain was too great, even to contemplate. While a measurable but marginal impact would be felt from such tariffs in the United States, the impact in Mexico – would have been devastating. Mexico’s economy shrank by 0.2 percent in the first quarter of 2019. These tariffs would have caused some sectors to begin a long, possibly irreversible slide.

All that was averted, when Mexico agreed to serve their own security interests and ours by tackling this persistent, rising, regional threat. Specifically, Mexico committed to putting 6,000 Mexican National Guardsmen on their southern border, deploying more guardsmen nationally, accepting return of US asylum seekers, working with US law enforcement against drug and human traffickers, and continuing negotiations for the next 90 days.

While President Trump “suspended” imposing tariffs, the 90-day period is important. It gives both sides time to see if Mexico’s new efforts reduce the flow of economic migrants from Central America north, while allowing continued discussion of Mexico as a “safe third country” for fleeing asylum seekers.

The 90-day period also encourages candid discussion between big allies of how better to share information and tackle drug cartels, which continue to disrupt rule of law in both countries, fomenting violence in Mexico, death by addiction and internecine violence in America.

And one other issue: Both countries may now be able to talk turkey on getting rule of law, economic stability, and more foreign investment into Central America, where radiating crime, gangs, poverty, public corruption, fear in the present and for future generations is common.

With concerted effort, at times in the past, life in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras was not so dark. Creating conditions that encourage their people to stay, invest themselves, believe in institutions and trust in the future would be time, money and effort well-spent.

But none of this new energy was afoot, before President Trump used tariffs to refocus everyone. His tariff threat was an action-forcing event. The result was favorable for all, a renewed commitment to regional security – including at America’s southern border. Can there be any question?

Interestingly, leading Democrats refuse to give this president credit, the House Speaker blithely calling President Trump’s use of trade to boost security “reckless threatening.” This, from a “responsible” House leader who, just days earlier, told America’s allies as our President celebrated D-Day ceremonies, she wanted him “in prison.” Why? Forget reasons, she is just against.

Now pivot to a larger issue. If the President’s thoughtful application of progressive tariffs, that is, use of America’s economic power in a deliberative way to increase US security worked to re-set priorities with Mexico, where else?

In just eight days, the President turned a major page with a major ally, ironically creating a favorable inflection point in our relationship. Mexican leaders now have good reason – in the context of domestic politics – to refocus energy on security. Information sharing goes up, along with rule of law, public health and safety, border security and dialogue in both countries.

Moreover, new life may be breathed into the US Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), a revision of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which benefits the three countries, is favored by industry and labor in all three, and which Congress continues – not to ratify.

The longer-term impact of President Trump’s successful Mexico deal, and linkage of trade and security negotiations – is easily overlooked. By refusing to play the game – accepting the idea that security and trade are not related – Trump is calling the world out.

The positive effect is an infusion of new t***h into international relationships, foreign policy and future security relationships. Next up is China. A final accord would cement longer term cooperation, placing the relationship between the world’s number one and two economies and number one and number three militaries on a firm foundation for decades.

President Trump knows this, and so does President Xi. That is why both continue to negotiate, and neither is interested in a flip, near-term, hit-and-run political agreement. They both understand trade and security are linked. Ignoring that is a fools’ paradise – and neither is a fool.

More broadly, think about allies and adversaries, all now wrestling with a new reality – an American president who says what he thinks, does what he says, refuses to be cowed, is ready on both the trade and military fronts, and worse – has linked trade to security.

The overt linkage of trade and security may not usher in a “new world order,” as many thought the end of the Cold War would, but is likely to instill new respect, focus, and realism into global negotiations of all sorts with all parties.

Trump’s straight-forward linkage of trade and security may help reorder a perennially fraught, opaque, even duplicitous and dissembling world, causing people to think harder about solutions, and less about avoiding them. That just happened. Let’s see what comes next.
