I think Congressional pay should be cut. Politics should be temporary work, not a career. Occasio-Cortez should go back to wh**ever work she did prior to coming to Washington.

Hell they aren’t.. Other than Professional criminals that is.

If you get paid for what you do then you are a professional. I just cannot believe that we pay them, but they are professionals. Professional does not mean you are good at what you do, only that someone is stupid enough to pay you. Maybe if we started acting like their bosses, they would do better.

As the Great Donald J. Trump likes to say, " You're Fired. "

To me professional is your profession. If you are an attorney, or a doctor, or an accountant, or a builder, and you run for public office one would hope they are bringing expertise to the office. The professional politicians dont know how to do anything BUT run for office. Bernie Sanders comes to mind

The good news is that the House is up for ree******n every two years and each party is afraid to raise pay on their own because the other guys will make them pay for it. Right now the Democrats are terrified to go it alone with out Republicans going along for the ride. This is where the two party system shines. We need to make sure there is no bipartisanship on at least this issue.

That Occasio-Cortez is in favor of a raise is proof it is a bad idea.

Amen.

When the Olympics made the distinction between an amateur and a Professional athlete, it was whether the athlete was paid or not. The Democrats use Professional Protesters. I can't prove they use professional v**ers.

Yes, they have 2 year terms, and are up for re-e******n, and get selected or elected. Everything is a political set up. They know, and they're think that the American people are dumb. We have been taken as fools. Its time to let them know, that they serve us, and if they don't do the right thing remove them, or make their daughters and son's. We have to take drastic measurement, we the people...

Not only do I not think Congress deserves a raise, I think they should be required to abide by every single law they pass, just as all citizens do. I think there ought to be 8 year term limits. The founders did not envision lifetime political careers, rather, citizen legislators to ensure that the knowledge, concern and will of the people is adequately represented. Furthermore, their retirement programs ought to be commensurate with that of ordinary citizens. Taking 8 years out of their careers ought to leave plenty of time to prepare for retirement. No legislator should ever be allowed to become a lobbyist....ever.

Strange thing about Congress, the keeper of the nation's purse, can v**e to give themselves a raise. Before 1992 Congress could v**e to give themselves a raise at any time. Then Gregory Watson, a sophomore at the University of Texas, found an amendment to the Constitution that had not been ratified.... He put it back on the dockets and because of this, the 27th Amendment became part of our Constitution (1992) which requires an e******n had to happen before any pay raise could take effect. So, like most of the Democrats' actions, this may come back to haunt them during the 2020 e******ns. So, you have the keys.... v**e the Democrats out of office before they can receive one cent of their pay increase!

If I am correct, they can't get a raise until reelected.

They deserve a raise. Just make sure the rope is securely around their necks before you start raising.
