You might try to at least attempt to be accurate in your statements. First of all Kavanaugh was accused of sexual assault. Blassey-Ford did not say, as far as I recall, that she was raped. Also since the assault was not proven, it is only an allegation. Therefore your statement " The man is a rapist " is inaccurate by any standard you could choose to use.

So, how does one certify news?

Provide sources? Fact-check? Get a news article endorsed by some respected certifier?

There are a lot of people who don't really care to pay attention to things like certifying, fact-checking, etc. There are some websites that do fact-checking; "snopes" is one, but some people just write off snopes, I'm not sure why.

As for me, I am already disgusted by some sources of information, and when they come on the radio I change channels. I made my decision about their credibility a long time ago. First impressions count for a lot. We have to tune out some people who, we have learned, are just wasting our time and energy. When I'm more serious about a particular matter then I might dive in and listen to them again, and check a fact or analyze.

By the way (this is a slightly new topic, but it is related to the old topic): Getting information from google can be hazardous to one's understanding. This is because google learns to give you what you want to see. I believe duckduckgo does not do that; if so, then it will be a more balanced source of information.
