My 14 year old grandson birthday is today. He post a photo of him holding his BB gun. I think it was on facebook. He wasn't trying to be an ass or look mean. He did it because he loves the sport of putting a small piece of lead in the center of a bulls-eye no matter how close or far away. If he wanted to be an ass and look like a tuff guy he would have posted one of him with an AR-10,or a MAC 10, an AK-47 or any number of firearms he shoots every other weekend. 10 parents of kids from his school called Glendale Police about the photo. It's still out on how many called the school.
I'm going to wrap the .22 I'll be giving him in a few hours. He knows the rules and knows them well, he can clear a jam safely in all types of weapons. You would be as safe with him as a trained adult. Yes I'm barging. I bought my three daughters bb guns and they all learned the rules and safety of guns a good 2 years before I shot them in the butt with it. All three have their arsenal of weapons, all under lock and key, and all out shoot their husbands. My 14 year old crazed school bb gun shooter is only one of my grandsons. I have 5 and not one girl.
Back in 2008 you couldn't get on a computer without seeing a group of young Muslims holding up their knifes trying to look like what at least what 10 humans scared of their own shadow told GPD my grandson
looked. I decided to do my own home grown baby terrorist extreme photo shoot here is a mild one. The baby on the left and above is 14 today. The one in the middle is in the Army like grandpa. The boy on the right is 6' 2" and being a teenager, a good kid with a lot of speeding tickets. None will shoot you by accident or in anger so give them a break. The other is a photo of obama at home after his surgery at Planed Parenthood.
Thank Heavens . . . a reasonable Grandpa!
You more than likely sleep better than I do. God blessed American Patriots. Maybe you should make a movie called Good Grandpa.

Good for you. I was just telling some younger friends yesterday about the America I was born into. I used to carry a BB gun around our neighborhood when I was a kid. No one blinked an eye. When I was in high school I carried a 22 rifle on a Rochester N.Y. bus so I could attend a NRA gun safety class to get a hunting license. No one cared. It was a different country then. I am very fortunate to have been born when I was, and to experience the magic that was then America.

My friends and I would strap our .22's to our handlebars of our bikes and go out rabbit hunting or shooting on the weekends. Our parents made us pass an NRA safety course first that was held at our jr high school and ya know we never shot each other. This was 30 miles North East of San Francisco. If some 13 year old kids did that in California today they wouldn't only arrest the boys but their parents too.
A few months ago I was in the back yard with two of my grandsons shooting their BB guns. One of their friends came by and I allowed him to shoot a few shots. A few hours latter his mother came by reading me the r**t act. How dare I allow her son to shoot a BB gun. The right to bear arms including teaching your kids, when young the safety and operation of firearms is an American's duty. I took her abuse for a while then fired back. If my kids find some yahoo's fire arm they won't shoot their self or another child can you say the same of yours. You teach your kid to cross the street but in a nation with over 300 million firearms you don't have a clue. I wonder what kind of rage I could have gotten out of her if we had been shooting wax rounds powered by primmers out of one of the hand guns. I also got my grandson a cleaning kit as it isn't fair that I get stuck doing all the cleaning.

Interesting that you mentioned wax rounds. I used to do quick draw 200 years ago when I was young. I loved making cartridges with magnum primers and melted wax. The wax loads don't k**l or maim but they sure do sting if you shoot yourself in the leg.
By the way, when I was in San Diego for a six month Marine Corps school, I bought my first handgun. It was a S&W model 28 Highway patrolman in 357 Magnum. I open carried it on San Diego busses to and from Mt San Miguel several times a month. No one cared. Try that today. The only restriction then was California had a 10 day waiting period to buy a gun. The Marine Corps allowed me to keep my gun in my locker in a locked case.
