It is late spring, but I was wondering if you would like to share your gardening expertise or expertise with the rest of us?

I have a large vegie garden, but that is not where I grow herbs. I mix herbs in with my cottage gardens, it serves as a quick shopping trip, rather than hiking down to the big guy, and it keeps small creatures from eating my flowers. Most deer do not like the smell of basil, and basil grows into a lovely bush. Rabbits do not like lemon grass....

Do you have some favorite garden hacks?

Most kind of you to say. This garden was first started about 120 years ago and each year it seems to get better.

We moved into a condo last year, and have limited gardening capacity. My wife was able to plant some flowers, and grasses on our front patio, and some herbs on our back patio. I have my two hot pepper plants, and a couple of tomatoes, but that's it. I do not dare attempt to include a picture after what you have posted. Very, very nice.

Has it been in your family the whole time?

Thank you..... and congratulations on finding space to grow! Your photo would be more than welcomed!!

I have a friend that lives in a condo, nice! No shoveling snow or mowing, even if her roof gets a leak, they fix it. Anyway, she wanted to still have flowers and strawberries. She and I built a vertical garden using gutters, wire, and a few 2X4s. She then got creative and made a h*****g garden (actually attached to the fences) using PCV drain pipe. This is not her garden, but the design she used.

This farm has been in the family from the early 1700s. I could never imagine living any place other than the farm. The humming birds are migrating along with herons, so mornings are filled with sounds and color. This morning it was foggy (duck fog) and the baby deer came out with their moms.... ever so peaceful..... until my elephant saw them and wanted to play, after all they were in his pasture. Nothing more beautiful than an elephant trumpeting at 5:30 AM!

The Sgt. Major is highly impressed, if not envious

She has a bit of a green thumb herself...but, nothing that impressive.

I can not take total credit for this, many generations made contributions. Funny thing, not one plant was bought. Most are tubers which come back year after year and some just self sowed. I forgot to dead head one year and had an abundance of self sowed flowers. No rhyme or reason or even design, I just keep the walkways trimmed and add a different plant from time to time. So, do let SgtM know that it was not my green thumb, but rather mostly chance and nature.

Maybe PennyLynn was referring to a republican neighbor.

Emoticons should tell all that I am only joking.
