In case you don't know this, there is an entire world outside the bubble of politics. Very little of life's most meaningful questions and most troubling realities cannot be answered or resolved in the conflicted realm of politics.

You have committed the common fallacy of a hasty generalization.

Mister X is a hypocrite,
Mister X is one among many Xs.
Therefore all Xs are hypocrites.

True, but hypocrisy tends to run rampant in the Republican party. Republicans tend to be anti-gay rights of any sort yet they tend to be the ones caught in gay sex scandals the most frequently.

http://www.newnownext.com/19-republican-politicians-gay-sex/12/2016/ (Don't let the URL fool you, they list 20 gay Republicans caught in gay sex scandals)

https://www.q***rty.com/brief-history-antigay-politicians-caught-gay-things-public-restrooms-20161009 (This article adds one additional name, Roberto Arango)

https://www.advocate.com/politics/politicians/2015/05/29/16-antigay-leaders-exposed-gay-or-bi?pg=full (This one adds 5 names)

https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-weird-science-of-homophobes-who-turn-out-to-be-gay (Doesn't add any names but does offer interesting insight)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the_first_L**T_holders_of_political_offices_in_the_United_States (Adds one previously unknown Republican name)

To head off the obvious observation that I am certain right wingers will point out, yes, I am only listing Republican gay politicians. It is not about my own hypocrisy, it is the fact that Democrats tend to favor gay rights so Democratic politicians being gay is NOT hypocrisy. Republicans typically being anti-gay/anti-gay rights, that does make Republicans being gay hypocritical. of the first 20 names, only 3 of them didn't present to be hypocrites just with the information provided for in the article alone. The rest of the first 20 were anti-gay while being gay themselves.

There is of course many other examples of Republicans being hypocritical and many if not most have nothing to do with homosexuality but since gay Republicans is such a glaring hypocrisy and easily researched, I chose this one. There are also many more gay Republicans, for every one that gets caught, there is likely to be just as many if not more that don't get caught. Why Republicans don't just give up the pretense and accept our gay brethren, I just don't know.

There have ALSO been many outed gay clergy in many denominations of churches as well, some of those denominations openly accept homosexuals, many others don't yet some of their clergy get caught being gay too. If you are religious, it is your lord's task to judge sinners, why not just let him do his thing and accept our gay brothers and sisters?

The whole list is apart from like 3 in the first group of 20 are hypocrites and just because the article failed to present one of their hypocrisies, that doesn't mean they have none. So maybe even those three may even be hypocrites as well.

No thy name is PeterS. You're a liberal which means you are supposed to be tolerant of other opinions and tolerant of others' fallibilites and you are no such thing. We've known about Timothy Murphy for a long time and I just knew you & your liberal hyenas would eventually seize on it.

Hypocrisy? What about Ted Kennedy and Bill Clinton's rights for women not to mention Hillary's demands that women should be heard in their complaints about sexual harassment?

True, but hypocrisy tends to run rampant in the Re... (show quote)
When you try to point out hypocrisy in politics, it's wasted effort to talk about one side or the other. One of the reasons that the current President was elected is that we're tired of Republican hypocrisy as well. Obviously someone who in public says being gay is wrong and in private engages in same-sex frivolity is a hypocrite. Politicians and hypocrisy generally go hand in hand.
