Nam got "hot" in '65. I enlisted '61-'64. They wanted me to Re-up, got to Waco,TX tom" Chopper " school. Luckily I got separated after a 3 yr tour in Army. About 50% of chopper pilots never came home.

After WWII our vets marched to DC demanding housing. Their demands were met with gun fire. After Korea 2,000 of our POW's were left as s***e labor not wanting to rattle China. In Vietnam our troops were soaked with Agent Orange and government didn't claim responsibly till most had already died. In Desert Storm we sent our troops into a toxic hell hole with CS masks that had set on warehouse shelf since Vietnam. Government has a history of treating our troops as throw aways. Today we have large numbers of homeless vets but an illegal is given things our vets just dream about. It's pathetic and down right sicking.

That last part really grinds my gears. The 1st part is (pardon me, Al) an inconvenient t***h.

I find myself agreeing with you over Common Sense Matters on this topic. When I first became eligible for the draft I went for a student deferment since I wanted to complete my education. Ultimately, I left school and enlisted, but I didn't feel unpatriotic about my actions. The difference between the previous administration and the current one when it comes to how the Armed Forces are being treated, both in combat situations and in how the infrastructure is being upgraded and supported is night and day. President Trump respects the hell out of our military and it shows both in how he treats them and how they react to him. If you think he's not an improvement as CIC over the previous President, you haven't been paying attention.

Agree, like Obama saying they didn't have serve, guess he forgot about the draft. My dad had just died, and my younger brother had to go. Thank God, he came home safe.

He's not officially a draft dodger.

His reclassification is certified and documented.

Which makes it all legal.

I just brought it up because some of our resident lefties whined about Trump's deferment.

Again, it is also certified and documented.

Same with Slick Willie!

I can only assume that you are attempting to make a false claim that Bill Clinton was also a draft dodger. Student deferments is NOT draft dodging unless you abuse the system by purposefully extending your education beyond reason. He signed up for the draft and received a high number, that is far from "draft dodging". Do facts not concern you? The U.S. involvement in Vietnam ended 4 days before Clinton's 27th birthday and he enrolled in the draft several years prior to that, while still working on a law degree.

If you wish to denigrate politicians with opposing political views, at least base it on real facts.

"He's not officially a draft dodger."

"His reclassification is certified and documented."

"Which makes it all legal."

No need to apologize. I've already forgiven you.
