We progressives/liberals were wrong to assume that Trump could never win the e******n. We dismissed him as a buffoon, a misogynist and morally corrupt. The populace would never elect such a person to this high office, we asserted. We were wrong.
The indignation and outrage at the outcome of the e******n was that we realized that a morally corrupt and constitutionally ignorant person had achieved what we thought was impossible. We realized that the candidate that we put forward was not strong enough to repel the gutter politics that were employed in the race. We thought that it could never happen, but it did.
That realization has been a shock to the entire governmental system. Norms that existed for a hundred years or more are being ignored and upended. The refusal to accept that Congress and the federal Judiciary are co-equal branches of government is one of those norms.
The present administration's juggernaut of rolling over both Congress and most moral conventions is appalling to most progressives and even many independents that v**ed for it.
The policies put forth so far (if you can call them that) are regressive and put us into the situation that we were in prior to both WW1 and WW2, where were in an isolationist mode and got d**gged kicking and screaming into major world conflicts.
Probably the one thing that bothers me (and many others) the most is the president's total inability or unwillingness to confront Putin about virtually any abuse that the Russians have perpetrated ... be it the interference in the e******n or the invasions of Georgia and the Ukraine, ... giving the Russian bear much more clout on the world stage. If you include the withdrawal from numerous treaties and trade deals, it becomes much more to Russia's advantage. You will probably say that this administration has been much tougher on Russia than any previous one with sanctions, but the weakening of NATO and the withdrawal of the US from major agreements outweighs any pressure that the sanctions have caused the Russians.
Yes, we libtards (as you call us) are aggrieved at the outcome of the e******n both on moral and political grounds. It was our own fault that it happened, and that simmering outrage resulted in the flip of the House of Representatives in 2018, resulting in all the investigations which Congress has every right to pursue. I personally view them as payback for all the slights over the first two years of the new administration, and as a result of the moral outrage and revulsion that such a person can be in the highest office of the land.
Just my humble opinion, your mileage may vary ... and undoubtedly will.

Being a slightly pre-octogenarian, it's a combination of both.

The below is an opinion/viewpoint posted on the internet. As it concerns our president, I know it flies in the face of many good people I have come to know and respect on OPP. Yet, I admit to agreeing with much, if not most, of what the writer has to say. I also accept that those same good people will question this evaluation of the man just as I often question theirs. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

When it comes to the d******eness of today's politics, I am beginning to think that the Russians that spent so much money and effort to swing the e******n to put this fox ( aka Trump) in the hen-house…must have spent a goodly amount of money on a roomful of social psychologists also.

They want Trump to call American laws that have stood for 250 years…unlawful…. and he has brought that idea into question many times.

They know he is un-educated, so he will know nothing of American or global history, laws or processes. As a classic, classless blowhard, he will loudly deride what he does not understand. He has done just that with every legitimate American institution that we have trusted since 1776.

They expect Trump to create d******eness in the people by using politics as a wedge. Again, Trump plays right into their efforts by telling lies to a certain sector of the American populace who can identify with his lies and in turn becomes a cult following. Those that remember the Jones cult in Guyana will identify with what Trump is doing. His lies are so believable to these poor people, there is no other t***h but Trump.
They know Trump can talk a line of BS and outright lies that sounds so very convincing. They know he has spent a lifetime conning everyone possible in business and life. No one will know what to expect him to start blabbering on or lying about next which will sow never-ending chaos. So it has come to pass.

That he is so self-serving and greed-driven this will conflict with what we expect of a fair president and that this will cause very questionable behavior on his and his major republican supporter's part.

They know that a segment of the Republican Party, driven by the same greed as Trump's, will join him, defend him and push him further with whispers in his ear. They will use him as a malleable chump to destruct parts of our laws and land so they can put their fingers in the biggest jackpot ever offered to them, the taxpayers of America.

They could not have chosen a better person of the job of taking American values apart, denying the freedoms we have enjoyed since the Bill of Rights was signed or to do a good job of backstabbing the very people that he claims to work for. Trump has spent a good portion of his presidency working with his political and financial backers dismantling the law and economic structure of our land so that they can reap the economic benefits of free tax money. It's all there in black and white cross-indexable print.

His ego is so powerful, his empathy so lacking, that he feels nothing as he hugs the American f**g one moment to show his supporters that he loves the land, then sits down and signs an executive order that rolls back a regulation that will poison thousands of his own people the very next moment. (the dumping of toxins into the waterways rollback, etc.)

He will stand in front of thousands of his supporters, talk (lie) for an hour about how (bigly) America will be under his direction. A virtual sea of red MAGA hats will cheer him on, the adulation washed over him as a wave of ‘we love you Trump’, ‘ you're our god because you care about us little people’ and he will exhort them to ‘be patriots’ and ‘be his people’. He and his twisted egotism feeds off these poor folks grand dreams and expectations. He plays them like the proverbial fiddle. The very next day, he signs a budget that was a direct attack on those very same people that cheered him on, v**ed for him, thinks of him as a god among men. He and his helpers signed a proposal that would take huge amounts of food from the mouths of his own support base , their children, their parents. He signed that proposal that would take away many needed schoolteacher and after-school programs, indeed the whole public education system and put it directly into the hands of his friends in the private education sector. They would not even be able to afford to go to school. They would remain ignorant, which is right where he and his republican backers want them.

Trump's people (seem to) have no idea, they don’t even seem to care.

That is how bad Trump can eat souls like some kid eats candy.

If there is one thing about America today that can truly be called f**e, it is Donald Trump.

Girl I have really missed reading you but I have been pretty sick one way or another but am back and going again.

I love this post by you except that I know Slatten as a man better than most. He is always posting left leaning things like that but he always apologizes to people.

I will try to keep up with you more as time goes along and hope I can. I liked your "h**e infected cretins" so much that I hope Kevyn can realize that he is one of them.

Restating things over and over does not make them true (with apologies to Josef Goebels) except to the true believers (read fanatics). There have been innumerable investigations into whether atrocities occurred, and yet nothing was ever proven. Countless times, there was evidence pointing to the guilt of a suspect, and yet they walked free on technicalities or good lawyering. Point being, just throwing money and numbers at an investigation doesn't guarantee success.
Just because there were all the people and all the talent employed to find out what happened, it doesn't work well when those involved won't talk or lie. Couple that with active obstructionism, and it's a recipe for never getting at the t***h of the matter ... which is probably the end result anyway.

I don't use the term "libtard". I use the term liberal to identify a person's politics. Morgan asked me to stop calling her a liberal, as she is " middle of the road". I apologized to her.
No matter how she wants to be considered, I can still form an opinion on her politics by the things she posts. IMHO, I see no middle of the road in her posts, they are all Trump ( or conservative) negative. Simple logic dictates that a person who is middle of the road will sometimes agree with BOTH sides of the aisle. I have seen not one good word OR any agreement with what I'll call the Trump side. Does that make her middle of the road? It sure doesn't look like it. But if she doesn't like the term liberal, I don't have the need to call her anything.
I have to use the same logic in your case. You actually use the same words and display the same emotions as a liberal. Dislike, disdain, displeasure, non approval looks like...(repeat) LOOKS like typical liberal ranting.
So, I ask you, did Trump reverse gay marriage? Did he cause nuclear war? Has he not established America as a leading nation again? Has he not negotiated better trade deals than we have seen in forever? What part of the constitution has he trashed? Forget the hoopla for a moment, was his proposed ban on certain Muslim countries that promote terrorism not warranted? After all, it was only to get better vetting. Has he not tried to protect our borders? Has he not won the respect and support of the military? Now, the most basic question...Trump was already a billionaire with an extravagant lifestyle, having fun on TV, doing what he wanted to do...why on earth would he take all the hatred and meddling, abuse of his wife and children, (including his 12 year old son), why would he scrape his fingernails to the bone to protect America, in simple language...why would he put up with all the crap that he has? The ONLY answer that can be real is because he loves his country. He said that very thing many years ago. Trump fights FOR America. Can you give tangible evidence that he does not?

BTW...I had to work Saturday night so I haven't had time to read your private post...but I surely will!
Thanks again for sending it.
