After a bombshell revelation on Thursday that the FBI sent an undercover investigator to meet with ex-Trump aide George Papadopoulos in 2016, former Republican Congressman Jason Chaffetz said the news reveals a push to expose how the probe into President Trump's alleged affiliations with Russia really began. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/jason-chaffetz-trump-russia-investigation

The New York Times broke the story that the FBI sent a woman to meet with Papadopoulos at a bar in London in 2016, which has fueled the president's argument that special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into him was politically motivated. The woman, who identified herself as Azra Turk, reportedly asked Papadopoulos point-blank if Trump was collaborating with Russians to swing the 2016 e******n.

Chaffetz, during an appearance on "Fox & Friends" on Friday, said the Times was offering up the story as an attempt to "soften the blow" before Inspector General Horowitz releases his report investigations of allegations of misconduct by the FBI and former director James Comey.

Chaffetz also questioned why, if the FBI suspected Russians were attempting to hack Trump's campaign, they didn't offer their assistance in protecting Trump.

"They were actually out there spying on him. And planting stories and leaking stories. The president has been right on this one. It's one of the worst scandals we have ever seen and it's tied to Hillary Clinton and the Democrats," Chaffetz said.

Chaffetz added that he believes the "attacks" on Attorney General Barr in recent weeks have been an attempt to discredit him, as he has made it clear that he plans to pursue the FBI's investigation "with vigor."

"I think the Democrats are trying again to discredit the attorney general knowing that he is going after the origins of how this whole thing got going. Because, it is in nefarious at best," Chaffetz said.

Barr was discredited because he intentionally tried to misrepresent the Mueller Report. As for going after the origins of the investigation into Trump, I thought you conservatives were arguing that the investigation started with Christopher Steele? It was the FBI who has said they started investigating Trump because of Papadopoulos boasts to an Australian Diplomat. Papadopoulos told the Australians that the Russians were going to release e-mails hacked from the Hillary campaign and the DNC. When Wikileaks did, the FBI began its investigation.

So what's nefarious about that? Isn't that exactly what we would WANT the FBI to do? Are you people so desperate to protect Trump that you wouldn't want the FBI to investigate such a suspicious action?

And what happened to Christopher Steele? What happened to the belief that Hillary used Steele to compose a totally false report about Trump who then fed it to the FBI who were supposed to use it to take him down? Now you are saying that Papadopoulos is where is started?

Pennylynn, you are supposed to be the smartest and most educated person on this board. At what point do you ask if you are simply being fed propaganda and you gullibly believe it???

It seems to me, Pete, that it is you who is being fed the propaganda. The origin of the dossier has already been established, Christopher Steele was just the one who wrote it. Now Congress is concerned with establishing who ordered and paid for it. They already know, but the stonewalling by the Dems is creating problems in proving it. There have been speculations that Hillary, Comey, et al, are scared to death of what might be uncovered. I don't think they are. I think they feel they are untouchable due to the power and success in avoiding prosecution that they have experienced. We'll see if that holds out. It is people like you and Dems in Congress as well as the media who are stifling this investigation and keeping anyone away from the t***h. Reps Chaffetz and Jordan had better be well-protected. The Dems would do anything to keep their house of cards from falling.

Pennylynn: all a Dem. Or the media need do is say Barr is guilty or Trump.is guilty and...Voila!
They are guilty.
Its obvious that the media and Dems want to get Barr to stop investigating Hillary and co. And prevent any investigation of the FBI and CIA.
No, the FBI and CIA is NOT DOING ITS JOB when it uses its offices to stop a legitimate candidate from participating in a p**********l e******n.
They should have informed Trump of possible Russian interference in the e******n, thus prevent possible crimes.
This whole scenario does harm our intelligence and investigative agencies, AS IT SHOULD. Clean the "Aegean" stables and they will come back to their proper role...as did the British after the Kim Philby scandal.
But no! The media and Dems think anything, ANYTHING to destroy President Trump and the GOP is acceptable. ANYTHING!
We are close to losing the America it took over 240 years to build.
Thanks Pennylynn and all your ilk.

My, my, they were busy sending people around the world trying to fabricate any kind of dirt on Trump and those he associated with...

Democrats are attacking Barr as a deflection mode to all that has been done by them!!! It is so blatantly obvious to see them all come out as they have, their fear is more than just running a little deep, they know they are being exposed and are in cover they tuch mode or singing away already....

Just finished reading this and fits nicely with yours here too. More food for thought Penny.. Also, nice to see you... I hope you are well and enjoying Spring..

Ukraine's embassy wrote that a Democratic National Committee (DNC) insider reached out in 2016 seeking dirt on President Trump's team, according to a bombshell new report Thursday that further fueled Republican allegations that Democrats were the ones improperly colluding with foreign agents during the campaign.

Ambassador Valeriy Chaly said DNC contractor Alexandra Chalupa pushed for Ukraine's then-President Petro Poroshenko to mention Paul Manafort's ties to Ukraine publicly during a visit to the U.S., and sought detailed financial information on his dealings in the country, The Hill reported. At the time, Manafort was Trump's campaign chairman.

"The Embassy got to know Ms. Chalupa because of her engagement with Ukrainian and other diasporas in Washington D.C., and not in her DNC capacity. We’ve learned about her DNC involvement later," Chaly said in a statement released by the Ukrainian embassy. "We were surprised to see Alexandra’s interest in Mr. Paul Manafort’s case. It was her own cause. The Embassy representatives unambiguously refused to get involved in any way, as we were convinced that this is a strictly U.S. domestic matter."

You have good questions and from what I’ve been reading, give a bit more time and you may have your answers..

As for Penny, she is smart and posts good threads asking great questions or brings to light more to consider in this concoction of the worst history being made right now for this country...

Edit added~~ a little something to consider on your FISA comment~~

Clinton emails now with Judicial Watch will be well scrutinized considering she worked for Fusion GOS which is the group Hills paid to find dirt on Trump.. When they couldn’t they made up some whoppers of lies even they then could not use..

Other than to lie to the FISA court and Judge hearing their egregious lies.. I understand he too has filed documents to the Select committe(s) angered by what is now known as the set up...

Nellie was hired by opposition research firm Fusion GPS, where she conducted extensive opposition research on Trump family members and campaign aides, which she passed along to Bruce on a memory stick.
Under whose authority?? Take a guess~~~😡

Meanwhile, today we learn from The Hill's John Solomon that Nellie Ohr exchanged 339 pages of emails with DOJ officials, including her husband Bruce, and met with DOJ prosecutors while working for Fusion GPS.

Now, a series of “Hi Honey” emails from Nellie Ohr to her high-ranking federal prosecutor-husband and his colleagues raise the prospect that Hillary Clinton-funded opposition research was being funneled into the Justice Department during the 2016 e******n through a back-door marital channel. It's a tale that raises questions of both conflict of interest and possible false testimony.

Ohr has admitted to Congress that, during the 2016 p**********l e******n, she worked for Fusion GPS — the firm hired by Clinton and the Democratic National Committee to perform political opposition research — on a project specifically trying to connect Donald Trump and his campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, to Russian organized crime.

Now, 339 pages of emails, from her private account to Department of Justice (DOJ) email accounts, have been released under a Freedom of Information Act request by the conservative legal group Judicial Watch. -The Hill

And according to Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), Rep. Mark Meadows "is working to finalize" a criminal referral of charges...

Lets watch them sing like the birds trying to save their own asses as more starts coming out.. Rosenstein is already doing so saying BO was involved.. Ohhh the webs we weave~~

the dossier was started by the GOP . Jeb Bush is the one who asked Steele to write it but that ok but when the Dems continued paying for when Bush dropped out then it was wrong? am I missing something here. and it was ok for Roger Stone to get the emails released again am I missing something ? the main thing is there are dirty politics on both sides. The Trump campaign was dirty and it will cost him in 2020. The GOP will possibly lose the Senate as well.

If they do, it will mean that the Dems have pulled off the greatest con-job of the century. Maybe two centuries.

Trump should be favored in 2020 as he is the sitting POTUS . But IF Biden gets the Nomination it will be a very good chance that he will defeat Trump and I wouldn't be surprised if the DEMS get control of the SENATE. The dems will throw a lot of mud at TRUMP watch for Mueller to testify early in 2020 just to turn up the heat. IT will be a interesting e******n again lol

You are dreaming Jimbo. The dims are shooting themselves in the foot on a daily basis, with their threats of censure, impeachment, investigations and outright lying accusations. My hope is the libby's keep up with their silly nonsense right up to the 20' e******n, because the v**ers will be so fatigued by their tactics Trump will look like the only sane one in the room~

BTW, I don't do lol's because the adults I know consider it juvenile and I can't wait for the day my 11 year old grand daughter outgrows the phase. However, I will give you a happy face lil feller~
