And the l*****ts condemn the idea that armed security or good guys with guns would save lives in a situation like this.

I wish a modicum of intelligence was applied to this issue of shootings in our schools!

First, we must understand one simple fact that we've all heard before and stands out like a sore thumb . . . GUNS DON'T SHOOT PEOPLE, PEOPLE SHOOT PEOPLE ! ! ! That fact should be the predominate idea in the minds of those even considering what to do about this issue.

Second fact that must be honestly concluded, any kind of 'Gun-Control' laws will only effect those that are willing to abide by the law. Yes, it is the law abiding people that are effected by any of these 'Gun-Control' laws, not those who are committing these horrendous acts on our children!

Third, the main focus of our attention must be on the conclusion that these murderers are committing these horrendous acts due to some kind of mental break that has brought them to this extreme act. The reason that precipitates the shootings should be determined . . . what is bringing these people to such an extreme act.

Forth, as an immediate act to impede these acts from happening, our schools must either have TSA type controls at all entrances of our schools or conceal/carry weapons on site. We use TSA at our airports . . . they should be an efficient means of curbing these acts of violence. There needs to be conceal/carry staff on the premises at all times for 'on the spot' protection of our children. This is a must, regardless of any TSA type controls, simply because the police are never there in time to do anything about the shootings while they are happening! Obviously, these individuals carrying would be volunteers from the staff and not mandatory.

People . . . it's time to realize that all the laws in the world are not going to stop these shootings! We have the second amendment for one sole purpose and that's PROTECTION!!! The main reason for the second amendment has nothing to do with hunting for food or sport, although that is a side effect of it. It's meant for the defense of our nation against invasion from outside the country OR from tyrannical government within the country. So, just forget about any law that will ultimately lead to the elimination of guns in the hands of the people and go forward from there with finding a way to deal with these school shootings!

Again, this is just my opinion!

I am for gun rights but do we need a AK47 . When I still hunted Deer , rabbits and small game I had 2 shotguns one for ducks one for small game a 22 rifle and a 308 with a clip for six shells . Again to we need a gun with a 30 round clip just saying a little civil gun control will go a long way. Background checks for one wont hurt either the law gives us the right to bear arms but lets make sure that we can do it safely

"...I am for gun rights but do we need a AK47..."

Yes, we do! For the defense of our country from enemies both international and domestic!

Good for you!

"...just saying a little civil gun control will go a long way..."

A little civility and intelligence in understanding why the second amendment exists in the first place will go a long way in determining what kind of gun control is necessary. Very little is required . . . in my opinion!

"...Background checks for one wont hurt either..."

Yes and it must be thorough and clear with set standards v**ed on by the people, not dictated by some little group of a government entity!

All comments are just my opinion!!!

The National Guard! Okay . . . what is it!

"The United States National Guard, also commonly referred to as the National Guard, is part of the reserve components of the United States Armed Forces."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_National_Guard

I'm 62 and was already in the ARMY in the late 70's. At my age, there is no way they'd even consider enlisting me back into service!

Dose this in any way dissolve my Constitutional right to defend my country? Not just no, but HELL NO!

And try reading the Declaration of Independence and then tell me if I have not only the right but the duty to defend myself as well as my country!

If that's as far as your problem solving mental capacity goes, I suggest you just sit back and let the grownups do the problem solving!

"A well regulated m*****a(National Guard) being necessary to the security of a free state..." It seems they didn't want every Tom, Dick and Harry or Susie, Jane and LaTasha, running around with firearms to defend the country, their homes yes, but for the country they need to be well regulated, otherwise they might shoot each other and miss the enemy.

How's your vision? Have you had your cataract surgery yet. How about timing your mile? Personally, I cant run a mile, much less walk a block without my walker. We need to let defense of the country to the young and the strong.

By the way, speaking of mental capacity, it's the constitution, amendment II, not the Declaration of Independence that talks about the right to bear arms.

"A well regulated m*****a(National Guard) bei... (show quote)

"...A M*****a is GENERALLY an army or some other fighting organization of NON-PROFESSIONAL soldiers, CITIZENS of a nation, or subjects of a state, who can be called upon for military service during a time of need, as opposed to a professional force of regular OR full-time military personnel...Generally unable to hold ground against regular forces, it is common for M*****as to be used for aiding regular troops by skirmishing, holding fortifications, or irregular warfare, instead of being used in offensive campaigns by themselves. M*****a are often limited by local civilian laws to serve only in their home region, and to serve only for a limited time"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M*****a

Where, in contrast, the National Guard can be called to serve even in another nation to fight along side regular Army troops, the major difference between a M*****a and the National Guard, to any rational minded individual, is obvious!

So, yes, the M*****a can be any Tom, Dick and Harry . . . or Susie, Jane and even LaTasha as long as they have abided by the laws of the land in qualifying to be owners of their weapons . . . I'd expect they were also trained in the use of their weapons! Your definition of M*****a seems to be what you think a M*****a is AND NOT WHAT IT REALLY IS! That's what happens when you don't bother to know what you're talking about!!!

It appears that it is YOUR vision that is in question, not mine! Perhaps you just missed the part of the Declaration of Independence that states:

"...But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security..."

You see, it is our right, it is our duty to defend ourselves and our home lands! Is that too clear for you to understand?!? Given a weapon to defend with, I will do my best to guard my loved ones to my death if necessary . . . regardless of my physical condition! This is the heart of a warrior . . . we don't just fight with our physical strength . . . but with our heart, our soul, our minds, AND our strength! You obviously have no idea what that even means!

By the way, it IS the Declaration of Independence that speaks to the right and duty . . . NOT THE CONSTITUTION . . . as shown in the above quote! I wasn't talking about the right to bear arms, but the right and duty to defend . . . which is WHY we have the Second Amendment . . . you dimwit!

The second amendment is not for deer hunting. It is to defend our rights against a tyrannical government.
I too am saddened by these mass shootings, but once again as with all of them, it was another gun free zone. When will you people learn?
