Luke chapter 20

Verse 1

Jesus has cleansed the temple the second time. The first time is in John 2:13 - 17. In Leviticus, chapter 14, if a house had leprosy, the priest visited the house three times. If leprosy was found the third time, not only was the house destroyed, and anyone that entered the house was unclean.

Verse 2 - 8

This is also in Matthew 21:23 - 27, and Mark 11:27 - 33.. The Sanhedrin and elders are in a quandary. They want to kill a man that could heal blind eyes. They must like blind eyes. Why is Trump so hated? The American economy has never been stronger. Democrat policies will bankrupt this nation. All I can do is give warning.

Verse 9 - 16

The parable of the wicked vinedressers are also in Matthew 21:33 - 41, and Mark 12:1 - 9. In it, a certain man planted a vineyard, lent it to husbandmen, and went to a far country. At harvest time, every servant sent to receive the wine from the husbandmen is beaten, and some are killed. Finally, the man decides to send his son, hoping they will reverence him. But when the husbandmen see the son, they kill him expecting to receive the vineyard. What will the landowner do to the husbandmen? He will destroy them and hire new husbandmen.

Verse 17 and 18

It is written in Psalms 118:22

Verse 19 - 26

This is also covered in Matthew 22:15 - 22 and Mark 12:13 - 17. The Sanhedrin wants to use the Romans to kill Jesus. First they ask loaded questions. They ask if it is lawful to pay tribute to Caesar? If Jesus answers no, they can have Jesus arrested. But if yes, some will dislike Him because they hated giving away money. We are about to see gnat smashed with a sledge hammer, an ant challenging an elephant. The money that everyone hates giving away has Caesar’s picture on it.

Verse 27 - 38

This is also in Matthew 22:23 - 33, and Mark 12:18 - 27. The Sadducees didn’t believe in resurrection. They make up a scenario, based on Deuteronomy 25:5 - 10. They want to ask Jesus a question he can’t answer. In it, there are seven brothers who marry one woman and die leaving no children. After the woman dies, the Sadducees ask Jesus who;s wife shall she be? Jesus explains that there is no marriage in the next life and the question is based on a false premise. That after death, your spirit remains on this earth until resurrection. To be absent from this body is present with the Lord, God is not God of the dead, but of the living. When you die, your spirit immediately returns to God.

Verse 39 - 44

This is also in Matthew 22:41 - 46, and Mark 12:35 - 37. Jesus is asking a question based on Psalms 110:1. If David calls Jesus Lord, how can Jesus be David’s descendant? There is a foolish idea that one man is more grown than another if he is older, I don’t care if I’m 19 or 90, you got one time to disrespect me in my house. If you do, you won’t receive a second invitation.

Verse 45 - 47

Beware of those who expect you to look up to them, while they do nothing for you.
