Luke chapter 17

Verse 1 and 2

You may be treated unfairly by those who don’t understand. Soldier on until God lifts us up. The dirtiest way to fight is to let God fight your battles. He may be slow but He is thorough. There is no scripture that says God is a right now God. He may not come when you want Him. But He is always right on time.

Verse 3 and 4

If you want to be forgiven, you must forgive others. We are a nation of false accusers and finger-pointers. People are upset, accusing the president of cheating on his wife. In the early 2000’s, A republican governor of a state flies to another nation and commits adultery on his wife in a hotel. He is condemned by the media and republicans lead the charge in removing him from office. In the 1990’s, a democrat president of the United States commits adultery on his wife in the oval office. This becomes a republican trick to remove a sitting president.

Verse 5 and 6

We should suffer for God’s sake. Like David in 2 Samuel 24:24, we should not offer to God that which cost us nothing. If you want to be a servant of Christ, we should take up a cross.

Verse 7 - 10

No one looks up to a servant. A servant does what he is told. Scripture should followed rather than traditions of men. We should be humble until God lifts us up.If you are teaching truth, something should stop you and someone should threaten to kill you. That is how you know you are following Christ.

Verse 11 - 19

This lesson is only here. In it, there are 10 lepers that Jesus heals. One is a Samaritan, when he sees that he has been healed, returns and thanks Jesus. Jesus asks, “where are the other nine”? Leprosy is the only disease that when you catch it, a priest can make you move to a leper colony, Jesus makes scripture come alive.

Verse 20 and 21

The thoughts in our mind are in the hands of the supernatural. God appeals to intellect. satan appeals to emotion. If the solution is to violate God’s word, the situation was put into your life by satan. he wanted you to come to that conclusion before he put you in that situation. satan wants to mess up our lives and destroy everything. We should think before we speak and act.

Verse 22 - 24

How many times have you heard someone say, “God is in here”, or, “God blesses me”, (while I do nothing for anyone else). When Jesus comes back, we shall all see it and know it.

Verse 25

We should all suffer and be rejected.

Verse 26 - 30

Christ’s return will be a surprise, and many won’t be glad to see Him. They will try to convince Him to accept them, but they.will be rejected. Worship without obedience accomplishes nothing.

Verse 31 and 32

Don’t get too attached to anything in this life. You can’t drive forward, focusing all of your attention on the rear view mirror.

Verse 33

Why does anyone want to be saved? None of the survivors of the Titanic were asked, “are you saved”? It is obvious because they were still alive. Your name can be blotted out of the book of life.

Verse 34 - 37

Where do those taken go to? Look for the buzzards.
