Who are Christians Following?
By Timothy Buchanan - April 21, 2019

In an ostensibly Christian nation that has largely abandoned the idea of objective t***h, does the Church fare any better than secular society? In many ways, it seems, the answer is an emphatic, “No!” This is especially true when examining opinions about a******n and human sexuality. With New York state’s callous legislative action that now allows infants born alive to be neglected until they die, the contrast between darkness and light within the U.S. population is becoming more stark than any of us have ever seen.

If a nation’s character is determined by how it treats its most vulnerable members, the United States does not have much to boast about. And neither does the Church in America. Prevailing diversities of opinions about a******n may be the most obvious sign of future events, whether they be good or adverse.

According to a 2017 Pew Research Center survey, 57% of all American adults favor some sort of legal a******n. Not surprisingly, among church denominations that compromise and distort scripture, there is majority support for a******n in all or most cases. Alternatively, there is more support for the protection of life among those who are faithful to the written word of God. This data is not new or unexpected. But there is a change occurring.

A growing minority (40%) now opposes a******n in any situation. The cause of shifting convictions may be the undeniable evidence that a fetus injected with saline, feels pain and is repulsed by it. Saline injection is a common mode of a******n in the early stages of pregnancy.

Perhaps the shift is because the development of high-definition ultrasound now reveals a fetal heartbeat early in pregnancy. Most likely, it’s a combination of these and other facts. But one thing seems to be clear—it is becoming increasingly difficult for rational minds to deny the scientific fact that life begins at conception.

Regardless of the reason, the deepening division among professing Christians is noteworthy. Is it possible that God is purifying His Church? Might He be separating sheep from goats? Where will this end? When will it be fulfilled? Scripture gives us some answers but not all of them.

For the past hundred years, churches in America have followed one of two general paths. Some have faithfully sought the Christ revealed in the Bible and to the Early Church, while others have chosen to deviate from the t***h and followed an image concocted by men that makes Jesus more approachable, easy-going and less than holy. One leads to a personal and profoundly life-changing salvation. The latter leaves dead men and women deceived as well as dead.

Just as the Bible is t***h and life to the Christian, it’s an obstacle and death to the Enemy. There are two primary ways that people are deceive and betray others. Satan and his human allies will either claim that the word of God does not say what it clearly says, or they will argue that it does not mean what it clearly means. When the first approach fails, the second often succeeds.

Where the wicked view the Holy Book as a collection of archaic restrictions and regulations, the deceivers use it as a manual of exceptions and indulgences. But the righteous treasure it as pure and precious t***h. Distortions of scripture, as with civil law and the U.S. Constitution, are accomplished by exaggerating the margins toward an extreme.

Liberal churches preach love and liberty to the exclusion of righteousness and justice; whereas minor and major cults and all false religions impose tyrannical rules and rigid legal systems at the expense of compassion and mercy. Adherents to these cult practices follow a distorted image of Jesus or a new prophet and are lead away by slow progressive fallacy.

Polycarp was a second-generation Christian, a disciple of the apostle John, and the first Christian martyr. He became the bishop of the church of Smyrna and confronted heresies similar to those we see in the Church today. Polycarp warned his own flock with counsel that echoes through time:

“Let us therefore, forsake the vanity of the crowd and their false teachings and turn back to the word delivered to us from the beginning.” Throughout the centuries, the Christian Church has ebbed and flowed, rallied and regressed. It has persisted in t***h because its message of love and liberty sets hearts on fire and restored broken lives. When the Church has run astray, returning to the reliable written word of God has been the solution. It still is. The Word of God has a name—His name is Jesus the Christ. Wise men and women still follow Him.

Great article. God h**es all sin, it seems in modern Western society, (although nothing is new,) that the sin of p***e is particularly helpful to the deceiver. God has so blessed America that too many "believers" decided they no longer had to serve God, but were equal partners with the Almighty and could "fix" what God got wrong. They completely forgot that satan (through p***e,) already acted upon his ideas of "fixing" God's so-called mistakes and they are abandoning God and following satan on the same p***eful path. I remarked on another topic that the love of God and Jesus Christ is never ending and unconditional...but salvation is not unconditional. And God gave us a love letter, (the Bible,) that details, (in length,) EXACTLY what we need to do, (AND what we need to avoid doing,) to attain salvation. Modern, know-better-than God "Christians", have thrown away their faith, (they no longer trust God,) they now follow satan, and have been utterly deceived.

Satan's greatest weapon is a self-righteous Christian. The blatant hypocrisy displayed by professed Christians is a major stumbling block, causing the lost to reject the Christ and the word of God. Why is it, they ask, that Christians cease to be concerned about children once they are born?

Notice that those who claim Christians are unconcerned about children, (they are not,) are the ones who are perfectly fine murdering them in the womb.

That's usually how it goes. To be sure the hypocrisy of some professing Christians has turned many away but claiming Christians don't care about children after they're born is wrong.

Good article Bahmer. Charles Spurgeon warned about this too (in the 1800s) and saw a trend in churches to lean toward more entertainment and feel good sermons.

And then we have the megachurch and televangelist "pastors" exhorting their flocks to send in lots of love offerings because wifey needs a Louis XIV armoire for her spring wardrobe and the holy pastor needs a new Jaguar because his 2018 Cadillac Escalade is out of gas.

Some people profess to be Christians but are not. Christians follow the teachings and doctrines of Jesus, the Christ. Christians change bearings [repent] in order to reach their goal [New Jerusalem]. If there is no sin there [in New Jerusalem], sinners cannot enter there. Sinners must repent and live holy.

Revelation 22:15 - Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

1 Corinthians 6:9–10 - Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19–21 - Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Ephesians 5:5 - For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

1 Timothy 1:9 - understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers,

Hebrews 12:14 - Strive for peace with everyone, and for the "holiness" without which no one will see the Lord.

You never realize how deep that love is until that child is taken from you. I lost my son when he was nineteen years old and I was a zombie for about six months afterward. That is when you start questioning yourself on did I tell him I loved him enough and other questions as well.

OMG bahmer I knew you were a widower, but the loss of a child is something not to be borne. I'm so very, very sorry And maybe you didn't say the words, but I'm sure you SHOWED him. Something happened to me some years ago, and ever since I end my conversations to my children (written and spoken) with "Mommy loves you". Yes, I'm a dork. To the point where my 5 year old grandson said to me the other day, when I was on the phone with his mom, "Tell her mommy loves you, grandma, and let's go".

There are many attributes to the characteristic of love. Among many, love nurtures, prunes and protects. Love does not lead others astray. Jesus informs us of these and other characteristics of love and warns us that the unrighteous will forever be disposed from the presence and good things of God. Jesus wants all men to be saved from these judgments that are to be mete out upon "the disobedient." God demands holiness and perfect obedience. Christ came to declare and proclaim this t***h to the world. His words are like to two-edged sword. Some people repent and others rebel. Those who rebel are members of the Satan's kingdom[the kingdom of darkness]. They will be sentenced to the lake of fire just as he [Satan]has been.

Better that way than to question whether you said it enough and did they really hear you when you said it. That was one of my nagging thoughts after he was gone did I say it and did I say it enough also did he really know how much I loved him? You can never tell your kids to much that you love them.
