Luke chapter 16

Verse 1 - 13

This parable is only here. In it, a man manages finances for another man. People notice that he is being wasteful, and inform the master. He is informed that he must give an account for his stewardship. He has been dishonest and wonders about his future. He knows he can’t work or beg. He decides to tell his master’s debtors to pay less than they owe, in hope that one of them will employ him when he loses his job. God compliments the unjust steward.
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
James 4:4
Today we are told that grace frees us from the law, so we can steal, murder, and commit adultery, but grace doesn’t free us from tithing. Tithing is not a law. God’s word should be taught chapter by chapter and verse by verse. If you can’t, study and live until you can. The only scripture that says how to lay up treasure in heaven.is Matthew 5:11. True Christians are mistreated. We should expect death threats.

Verse 14 and 15

The Pharisees were the religious leaders of Jesus time. They wanted to be looked up to by everybody else, even though didn’t care about them. Right now abortions and same sex marriage are legal. God is looking at this nation and shaking His head.

Verse 16 - 18

Everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die. Heaven and earth shall pass away. But God’s word will never pass away. Jesus will return at the seventh trumpet. satan will.come at the sixth If you mistake satan for Christ, that is the unforgivable sin.

Verse 19 - 31

This parable is only here. In it, there is a rich man, and a poor man named Lazarus. We are not told what put each man in their situations. Being poor doesn’t mean you’re going to heaven, being rich doesn’t mean you’re going to hell. It’s best to think things through. We don’t know anything about the actions of Lazarus or the rich man. The main point is that there is more to life than this life.
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement.
Hebrews 9:27
In the next life, Lazarus is in the bosom of Abraham. The rich man lifts his eyes in hell. A man’s life is more than the things he possesses. At first the rich man wants to ease his suffering. When told this is impossible, he wants Lazarus sent to his brothers. We have Moses and the prophets to help us understand God.
Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me.
Psalms 40:7
