Luke chapter 14

Verse 1 - 6

The Pharisees were looking for what they thought was sin. Jesus asks questions that make them think. We have become a bunch of useless finger pointers. Instead of religion building, uplifting, and encouraging; we criticize, and look for reasons not to listen to the preacher. The Pharisees had no compassion for anyone and didn’t heal anybody.

Verse 7 - 10

A similar idea is in Proverbs 25:6 and 7. A follower of Christ doesn’t do things to be seen of men. He should endure insults and putdowns until God lifts him up.

Verse 11

Obedience is preferred over worship. What good is worship when we have murdered 70 million children and same sex marriage is the law of the land? Instead of worship, we should go to church crying and apologizing for electing our own destroyers. Other countries have walls along their borders, and they are nowhere as rich as America.

Verse 12 - 14
We should at least provide and care for our own children. Don’t worry about being taken advantage of. The dirtiest way to fight is to let God fight your battles. When you leave, the blessings stop.

Verse 15 - 24

True followers of Christ are looked down on and persecuted. God will lift us up. Wait until He does. Jesus says He will not drink again until the kingdom of God shall come. Wine is fermented grapes. Beer is fermented hops. After a lifetime of abuse and neglect from the people I took care of, I look forward to having a beer with Jesus.

Verse 25 - 27

What is translated “hate” should be “love less”.
Must Jesus bear the cross alone and all the world go free
No there’s a cross for everyone and there’s a cross for me
Follow God and not traditions of men. If your church doesn’t teach bible, teach it yourself.

Verse 28 - 33

You can’t straddle the fence. Friendship with the word is enmity with God. The friend of the world is God’s enemy. A walk with Christ will cost everything you got.

Verse 34 and 35

There should be a difference between a follower of Christ and the rest of the world. If salt doesn’t have any flavor, what can you do but throw it away?
