It being built in 1160's, such a beautiful, monumental and historic structure, I hope they can save it.

Well, just hope and pray, that's all you can do.

From watching the news it does not look hopeful.

A very sad day or Parisians, but also the world, a place that partook so many changes in human history.

I am not French and not Catholic, but this is a painful lose.. such a beautiful cathedral.. would be on my bucket list if I still kept one..

Literally just 2 weeks ago, my son and his whole family were in Paris and toured the building, very impressed.

to think it may be gone is so sad..

Such a beautiful building...

Full of love and grace...

A testament to our desire to be greater than we are...

Yes, well said Kyle, think of the love and passion alone from the people who built it, from the architect on down, showing our potential of what we can do, I hope they rebuild in a world effort. To find the craftsmen will be the challenge. Aside from the previous poster, this sadness has brought us all more together in compassion.

Indeed...

I would happily contribute to the effort...

It would be beautiful to see the world come together on this one...

That was on one of my wish lists to visit Paris and the Cathedral, I saw a smaller version of a similar Cathedral in Scotland which mimicked Notre Dame was also built in the twelveth century and was absolutely amazing, the carved woodwork, stain glass and statues were nothing of what I had ever seen before...so moving.
