If everyone were under the same umbrella it would either be horrendously expensive, or have such strict limits on care, pay limits and copays as to be useless to 70% of the population. Further, it would demotivate the best and brightest from becoming doctors, researchers and the like. Honestly, the government running 100% of anything is a scary proposition. A smart young man at a Bernie rally asked 2 questions that silenced the crowd. The first question was: Do you trust the government? The replies were predictable- no! The government is corrupt! There are too many crooks! Etc. The second question was: Then why would you want to expand the size of the government and give it more control over each and every Americans life? Crickets....

Every other country can manage this, the only difference is we are governed by greed. Medicine is costing hundreds of times more for us, the same for hospital charges. We can make it all cheaper

Every other country does not manage this. Long lines to see a Doctor, denied procedures and medicine. Why do people from all over the world come hear for medical procedures? Because we have the best hospitals and Doctors. Yes, I agree we can make it cheaper by competition in the insurance industry, hospitals, medicines and Doctors. NOT by making everything free! Look at Venezuela!! Is that what you want?

Every other country doesn't manage this. And from those countries that do, like the UK, rich people come to America for complex surgeries and care.
