Trump-Mueller report contains damaging information on president, says Fox News' Judge Napolitano: 'There is something there'

Tom Embury-Dennis, The Independent • March 28, 2019

A Fox News legal analyst has warned viewers Robert Mueller’s report “undoubtedly” contains evidence of collusion with Russia and an attempt by Donald Trump to obstruct justice.

Andrew Napolitano, a former New Jersey superior court judge whose views have previously been parroted by Mr. Trump, also said the document ran to 700 pages, a detail previously unknown and yet to be confirmed by the Department of Justice.

A four-page summary of the report written over the weekend by attorney general William Barr cleared the Trump campaign of conspiracy and concluded there was insufficient evidence to prosecute the president with obstruction.

“In the 700-page summary of the 2 million pages of raw evidence, there is undoubtedly some evidence of a conspiracy, and some evidence of obstruction of justice,” Mr. Napolitano told Fox Business on Wednesday, adding Mr. Barr would have concluded it failed to pass the standard of reasonable doubt.

He continued: “Once the 700 pages comes out, Democrats and the president’s other opponents will have a field day with what is in there. If there were no evidence of conspiracy, and no evidence of obstruction, the attorney general would have told us so. He didn’t, so there is something in there that the Democrats and opponents of the president want to see. They will see it, and they will make hay out of it.”

The judge’s comments come amid a concerted effort by the White House and Republicans to cast the special counsel’s findings as a total exoneration of the president, despite the fact the report is yet to be released.

Mr. Trump and his allies, including many Fox pundits, are also using Mr. Barr’s summary to double down on their attacks against mainstream media outlets who reported on Mr. Mueller's investigation.

“For two years they’ve indulged in an orgy of hatred (for Trump) that colored absolutely everything,” one Fox presenter said, in a clip tweeted by Mr. Trump on Wednesday evening.

Earlier on Wednesday, House judiciary chairman Jerrold Nadler revealed Mr. Barr had told him in a phone call he would not commit to turning over Mr. Mueller’s report in full to Congress, and would almost certainly miss a 2 April deadline set by House Democrats.

“I’m very disturbed by that,” Mr. Nadler told reporters, adding the date was a “hard deadline”.

Backing up Mr. Napolitano’s claim, Mr. Nadler said the report’s length was “very substantial” - confirming it was fewer than 1,000 pages.

I am worried that Trump will try to sanatize the report. The longer they fail to release the whole thing, the more damaging it probably is. Remember most of the time the coverup is what gets the criminals.

Do name me one liberal or progressive that does not hope there is more to this report.... On 2 April, if there are anyone that is a liberal or progressive with integrity left in DC, we should have the majority of the report. Even then, they will say that mueller and his team were intimidated or cohered into writing a worthless report.

The Judge more and more sounds like he is swinging left. Now he is making assumptions about something he has not even read. Looks like he is hoping for something to be there.

Personally, I don't really care what is or is not in the report. The sheer number of people indicted, convicted or still awaiting trial on a slew of charges, says that Trump is either dirty.....................or a complete and utter boob ( I had no idea they was doing that ), and shouldn't be even any where near folks who make decisions that affect the fate of this country.

What are all those indictments and convictions for?? Personal finances.... right? Most are 'crimes' that are over 10 years old. Oh yea, lying to the FBI.... about their personal finances.

You say it true...Guilt by association is all they have to contnue their fabrication of Russia and Trump colluding..

It doesn’t matter what Mueller’s final conclusion is, they will continue their own investigstions and ultimately Muellers conclusions will be Trumps best defense..

Pathetic it is~~~

Sounds to me like it is all speculation at this time. Some people like to assume and imagine to bring oneself closer to their personal goals. Missing at this time are facts. The only thing being exposed now are the wishful thinking of some. If someone speculates that Santa Clause is going to die doesn't make it true. If someone speculates the world will end by excess insects on or before Jan. i, 2020 because their big toe aches is not fact. It only exposes the possibility that the one doing the speculating is a little nuts. Juries have convicted people because they looked guilty or just personal h**e for the one on trial. Lack of facts be damned. Here we go again, the blind leading the blind for wh**ever reason.

Yes..... but, that trial is ongoing.... or am I wrong? And let us not forget Dutch attorney Alex Van Der Zwaan was indicted for lying to the FBI about interactions with Gates and another associate of Manafort in February 2018. He pleaded guilty and served a 30-day sentence before being deported to the Netherlands.

I have to wonder.... what if Russia had indicted K**lary for her interference in the Russian e******ns in 2011.... We, the US, is not above interference.... look at this map..... what if we were put on trial?

I agree in that there are probably many liberals/progressives...e.g., such as Napolitano...that are able to foresee more in the Mueller report than revealed in Barr's brief, 4-page summary.
