With no fanfare in early March, the Treasury Department issued a notice that allows employers to buy out current retirees from their pensions with a one-time lump sum payment. The decision reverses Obama-era guidance, issued in 2015, that had effectively banned the practice after officials determined that lump-sum payments often shortchanged seniors.

If Obama had anything to do with, it was bad.
I never got a pension, I worked for my money. I see Congress after 2 years get a $150,000 pension a year! All taxpayers money! And for life. Now you all should understand why people will spend a million bucks to get elected to Congress. Most state and county government are in debt over there heads do to pensions that can never be paid. It seems just another way for the left to take down America, whats new?

I am in fear that the Republicans will cut my social security and Medicare benefits. I spent decades putting into these programs. I also see whear govermnents do not plan for the future and now are burdened by pension plans. All this so the rich don't pay their fair share of taxes.

If you are over 60 and don’t have a pension you worked at the wrong place. Pensions are earned, they are part of an employees compensation package and when an employer doesn’t pay them it is no different than theft. Every time you see an octogenarian taking a fast food order or greeting people at a big box store instead of fishing with their grandkids it is clear indication that we desperately need a robust return of organized labor.

If there is any fiddle phartin with Social Security and Medicare it will be the Democrats who do it as they have always been the crooks who have done it previously. Who do you believe first taxed your SS? Who do you think first stole the money out of SS and left IOU's in their place? Who stole money from Medicare and subsidised Obamacare? It wasn't Republicans. May you someday discover that what Democrats charge against Republicans is precisely that which they're doing behind your back.
