I only need ONE reason to stop gun control laws - THEY ARE UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

Start with a teeny step, grow on that step, eventually the Bill of Rights is irrelevant, then down the road a bit, the US Constitution is irrelevant. Actually, for most intents and purposes it is irrelevant now as we have only 1-2 people in the US government today who honor and abide by it. Ditto with the Supreme Court, ditto with minor courts.

It is WAY past time, in my view, to put the brakes to these runaway politicians. They are serving NO GOOD PURPOSE, and are destroying our economy and our nation in the meantime. If anyone thinks otherwise, let's see your data.

Republicans claim to be the freedom party, the patriotic party, Obama is so un-American party, etc. When they start talking about what they are all about, you can assure yourself that it will be the opposite. Last Monday was proof of that.

On Wednesday, Senate Republicans and four Democrats shot down a bill to expand background checks. With Republican support the NRA successfully created an environment that made access to firearms easier for alleged bombers. Tracing the gunpower used in "pressure cooker" bombs and homemade hand grenades will be impossible.

Yes, some of the congress v**ed for the US Constitution, but mark my words, they wouldn't have had the public not drowned them in email, faxes, phone calls. One of my senators v**ed FOR the first time around - lots of us got busy, we let him know what he is expected to do if he intends to represent us, and he v**ed against the bill in the final analysis. I have a feeling there is a lot of that.

I don't trust the Republican Party as much as I trust the Democrat Party. I KNOW the democrats will do the wrong thing every chance they get. One never knows what the republicans will do - they are so wishy washy. I quit the pubbie party because I cannot support those who are ignorant of what they support. At least the democrats KNOW they support dark legislation, support total control of others, support giving the politician everything he can lay his hands on, and fool the people all the time.

We are on the same page. I trust none of them to do what they were v**ed into office to do, only what serves to keep them where they are. This too will end.

Maybe you can answer this question, as I cannot find a definite answer, or at least one that makes sense. Where did the 90% number of Americans that wanted gun controls come from. Whose poll, how many were actually polled, can we get a copy of it and read the questions?

@unclet
So far have been unable to find anyone willing to take credit for that poll. I did find a Google poster who cited the figures, but being l*****t he saw no need to reference it. I see it as a blatant lie, told for effect. You know, tell a lie long enough and it becomes fact? That's what the left relies on.

My findings were the same as yours, hence my question. I think we are on the right track, tell it often enough, it becomes fact. Great tactic, works on the left, not for me.

What a crock, if this is so true why don't the majority of the police think so?

Here's what the cops say!

In March, PoliceOne conducted the most comprehensive survey ever of American law enforcement officers’ opinions on the topic gripping the nation's attention in recent weeks: gun control.
More than 15,000 verified law enforcement professionals took part in the survey, which aimed to bring together the thoughts and opinions of the only professional group dev**ed to limiting and defeating gun violence as part of their sworn responsibility.

Are legally-armed citizens the best solution to gun violence? Cops support simple, straightforward solutions Why a closed-minded approach won't work

PoliceOne's 2013 Gun Policy & Law Enforcement Survey Results: Executive Summary
Totaling just shy of 30 questions, the survey allowed officers across the United States to share their perspectives on issues spanning from gun control and gun violence to gun rights.

Top Line Takeaways
Breaking down the results, it's important to note that 70 percent of respondents are field-level law enforcers — those who are face-to-face in the fight against violent crime on a daily basis — not office-bound, non-sworn administrators or perpetually-campaigning elected officials.

Virtually all respondents (95 percent) say that a federal ban on manufacture and sale of ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds would not reduce violent crime.

Unclet, I must be a quart low of Liberal Crap--my eyes are blue. Congress chose to ignore what Americans wanted and paid homage to the NRA -- that was their plan from the beginning, it had nothing to do with being bombarded with petitions, emails, faxes, tweets or phone calls, etc. Congress also chose to ignore 300,000 of petitions to stop the sequester. The bottom of the economy will start falling out very soon and it will not be pretty, but that is another story.

The majority of Congress are only half human--I have said before that some of them are devoid of a soul. That was recently confirmed when the families of the Newtown victims went to Congress. Some said that they did not have any compassion in their eyes, others said that their eyes were dead.

The NRA had the tags removed from gunpowder so the criminals would not be caught and their guns, grenades or bombs could not be traced. Now, what will the NRA do about all of the surveillance cameras and other social media? With the untraceable gunpowder law enforcement officers will turn to other means of tracing terrorist.

The NRA has nothing to offer but lies, fears, intimidation and fantasies. In other words they have nothing to offer. They are just waiting for the next mass shooting so all of the gun owners will start adding to their arsenals and that adds big bucks to their banking accounts. Since the majority of the NRA's money comes from terrorist, thugs, etc. the government should start treating it like drug money that has been laundered, they are using the money to buy politicians.

Wayne LaPierre looks like the wimp he is without his gun, a gun gives this man "balls". He is really baffled, crazed, confused, feels deceived that he is not getting gun money that he so desperately needs. He doesn't understand why a Democratic state would ignore his "robocalls" to the Newtown victims families. Teapublicans have always said that Democrats did not know how to stop a war, Obama did when he stopped the Iraq War. They have said Democrats are "soft on crime", I guess this proves them wrong again.

Everytime I think of the 113th Congress I see a roomful of two year olds, sitting on the floor kicking and screaming "OBAMA'S GOING TO TAKE OUR GUNS AWAY! WAH! WAH! WAH!""OBAMA'S GOING TO TAKE OUR GUNS AWAY! WAH! WAH! WAH!""OBAMA'S GOING TO TAKE OUR GUNS AWAY! WAH! WAH! WAH!".

You are full of kool aid. "Congress chose to ignore what Americans wanted and paid homage to the NRA -- that was their plan from the beginning, it had nothing to do with being bombarded with petitions, emails, faxes, tweets or phone calls, etc."

You, my dear, are a certifiable i***t. Congress was forced all right, it was FORCED TO FOLLOW THE CONSTITUTION, by those citizens who know and understand the Constitution - that would be those on the political right.
The political left wants the constitution shredded, and works valiantly to do just that. The political right will NOT TOLERATE that. The US Constitution just happens to be the basis for the law of the land. You had better hope it remains so because once it is not there to protect you, you will be in a world of hurt. You will have NO basis on which to complain about any right you may think you have. Believe it or not, those Congressmen who were FORCED by the right to v**e the way they did v**ed for YOU. Those of us who pushed and pushed them to v**e with the Constitution were looking after YOUR rights as well as OUR rights. Without the Constitution all of us HAVE NO RIGHTS.

NRA LIED?! I do so hope they sue you. I think it is time for people like me, an NRA lifetime member, to start pushing the NRA to sue the pants off people like you who so cavalierly and obscenely accuse the NRA - and others - of foul deeds with no hint of t***h. This should not happen. Good people don't make accusations with no basis whatsoever.

What the H did upholding the 2nd Ammendment have to do with getting explosives? I agree with the person who said you are full of IT!

The legislation v**ed down would have done nothing to deter criminals from getting guns or making bombs. It was just another attempt by you libs to chip away at our rights.

Your stupid post PROVES that the Republicans and FOUR Democrats still operate as they are sworn to do - uphold the US Constitution. They didn't v**e for the NRA; they v**ed for the US Constitution, same as EVERY member of Congress has sworn to do. Unfortunately, most of Congress doesn't care for the Constitution which tells them what they can and CANNOT DO. The democrats despise the Constitution and tries to tear it down as often as possible so that eventually it becomes passe. The NRA and all good Americans H**E THE ACTIONS OF THE DEMOCRAT PARTY for that very reason. You support a bunch of control freaks who won't stop until they have destroyed everything good about America. All these gun ban issues are not about preventing deaths. They are about control. The constitution says we WILL have the right, unassailed by Congress, to bear arms, and no flakey, lying sob democrat is going to stop that. Once you k**l off all us old-timers who actually respect the Constitution, THEN you may succeed in setting up your beloved tyranny. Do NOT expect any help from any law abiding citizen because it won't be there.

Your premise is as flakey as you are.

BULL S**T! No body has made getting a gun any easier for bombers. Your comments only show how uninformed you are on the subject. With over 2,000 laws already on the books one more will not make us safer. Enforce the laws we already have, the majority gun crimes are committed by gang bangers but they get away with it. Last year only four people were prosecuted for illegal purchase of firearms. Enforce the laws we already, put the bad guys in jail and leave the rest of us alone.
