Trump threatens SNL with federal investigation for mocking him.

The President tweeted in the early Sunday morning hours a threat to have the NBC late night comedy series investigated by a federal agency. The offense? Mocking him.

“It’s truly incredible that shows like Saturday Night Live, not funny/no talent, can spend all of their time knocking the same person (me), over & over, without so much of a mention of ‘the other side,'” the president wrote. “Like an advertisement without consequences. Same with Late Night Shows. Should Federal E******n Commission and/or FCC look into this? There must be Collusion with the Democrats and, of course, Russia! Such one sided media coverage, most of it F**e News. Hard to believe I won and am winning. Approval Rating 52%, 93% with Republicans. Sorry! #MAGA”

And then there is Facebook.

President Trump threatened an investigation into Facebook over perceived bias after a White House staffer was temporarily banned from posting comments on the site.

Now Nunes.

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee and its former chairman, is suing Twitter and a number of its users for more than $250 million.

Who is repressing Free Speech by such threats? The intimidation implicit alone in these three actions should be enough to worry every patriot about a movement to an autocracy. Trump's constant attack on the 1st Amendment, by calling the Free Press "the enemy of the people" and undermining its legitimacy, is an obvious tell of his autocratic leanings. Every dictatorship started this way. Ignore the signs. Make it just some Left wing meme for the upcoming 2020 E******ns. Tell yourself it is wild exaggeration by h**ers and it can't happen here. Or pay attention.

Some of us do see it, have seen it for quite some time, some will never see it because it is only a "lefty thing" and an "anti-Trump thing". If you painted it with an anti-Pelosi, anti-AOC or anti-Democrat shade, then they will take notice and cry about it but as long as it is Trump doing it and not one of the other mentioned sources, they won't care, until they do, that will be if/when Trump decides to turn America into some form of dictatorship and do away with free e******ns. Then they will all try to say they didn't see it coming.

This is because conservatives dearly love the US constitution and their right to freedom of speech. What they don't like is when other people exercise those freedoms--then it hacks them off to no end...

The tweet was obviously sarcasm...
I found it humerous....
Not as funny as cutting off the head of a POTUS and holding it up like an ISIS fighter of course...
But still good for a chuckle or two...

And the left - which isn’t liberal - values free speech? Is not speaking out against censorship and trying to control speech supporting the 1st? No.

Obama’s tussles with the press was also a shining example of how the left values the 1st? Again no.

The left only values free speech when they can define it which means they don’t value it at all.

When SNL made fun of Geo. Bush, he laughed it off as political satire; Trump, on the other hand, goes ballistic and threatens gov't. action. Putin and Trump: peas in a pod.

Well that can't be so, don't we always hear that the press is all liberals? I guess they are only liberal when it suits those wanting to claim "f**e news".

No, it wasn't sarcasm, I wish you were right but I know it wasn't sarcasm.

Bush even invited Dana Carvey to the white house and begged him to do his impersonation even, I guess some people have a sense of humor, others don't. NEVER make fun of a narcissist, they don't have a sense of humor where it comes to their own ego, Trump is proof positive.

Expand your thinking. Facebook, Google, Youtube and Twitter all censor regularly. Nary a peep from the left. Google skews results for its own agenda. The left tries to control speech.

You should know all this.

Actually, private sector social media isn't bound by free speech laws, they DO have the right to ban h**e speech and/or any speech they deem inappropriate, offensive and/or criminal in nature. All those sites you mention are ALL private sector web sites, not a one of them is a government site. That said, I have seen many "controversial things said on many of those sites and nothing done as it didn't breach the code of conduct rules for those sites, keep within the code of conduct rules and you won't get banned, fail to do so, you have it coming.

Are you saying that you are FOR over-regulation?

That was not sarcasm. Trump means every word of his nasty tweets. Only when he gets called on them does he say he was being sarcastic.

Nunes has no chance of winning that lawsuit. The only thing he’s getting from that suit is that followers of “Nunes’ Mom” went from 10,000 to 350,000. Nunes sponsored a bill in 2009 to ban frivolous lawsuits.

Uh...yes I know all that. And more.

I've seen some of what they ban and it isn't h**e speech. I'm not a huge fan of PragerU but its an easy example. Youtube (owned by Google) bans their videos which also aren't h**e speech. I've seen various articles disappear. None were h**e speech unless one has really gone way off the deep end.

It is abuse of power. They are huge and they control what many see. Still, any objection from the left on this abuse of power is conspicuously absent because its skewed in their favor. You can bet if it was l*****t material disappearing they'd be quite vocal about it.

There's a lot more for a different topic. Targeted ads and controlled feeds where you have no real control are not benign actions. Facebook spies on users private messages and data. They were caught again recently. Google manipulates search results.

This goes beyond right and left and political parties.
