The Really Blatant Lies About Welfare That People Actually Believe: who do you think would be spreading them?

Most poor people who avail themselves of a U.S. government safety net program are off benefits within three years, according to a government survey that tracked individual people over time. Of the one-in-five Americans who participated in a program like Medicaid or food stamps from 2009 through 2012, the Census Bureau reported this week, 56 percent stopped participating within 36 months, while 43 percent lingered between three and four years. Nearly one-third quit receiving benefits within one year. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/05/29/public-benefits-safety-net_n_7470060.html

Why doesn't the GOP allow the t***h about our social programs come out and let the v**ers decide instead of a campaign of deception to sink these needed programs. I seriously doubt any Republican would ever be honest about who these programs help and the dire consequences to millions when those programs funds are slashed or ended. Why not? The majority on assistance are the elderly, the disabled, Veterans, and children, not gaggles of Welfare Queens.

Social Security and Unemployment Benefits help to both sustain and bolster the economy; reducing or doing away with those would not just be cruel and inhumane and hurt those individuals, it would deal a serious blow to the economy. These Safety Nets just don't save and help those who have fallen through the cracks of our system, the money they put into the country is a vital Safety Net for the wealth of this country. Well, something to think about.

Below are the lies about Welfare. Sorry, but if you want to know why they are lies instead of just calling it "f**e news" you will need to go to the site provided at the end. Have a nice day.

1. ‘I*****l i*******ts take advantage of the system.’

2. ‘People on welfare don’t work.’

3. ‘Minorities dominate the welfare rolls.’

4. ‘They’re buying steak and lobster.’

5. ‘You can live big on welfare.’

6. ‘Once people get on welfare, they stay on it for life.’

7. ‘Welfare people just do drugs and cash checks.’

8. ‘These welfare queens drive Cadillacs.’

9. ‘Blue states are great for welfare queens.’

How much is housing where you live?

As compared to getting a 6 year loan for furniture and a car.

For Federal, the maximum time to receive benefits is 60 months...... and each state has their own limitations for state run programs. Most career unemployed get off the program, wait the minimum time and apply again... no law says that the time limitations is for "life time." So, they are counted as "new applicants" under current policies. As for who receives welfare... minorities or w****s... in the same report you sited..."The black population: At 41.6 percent, b****s were more likely to participate in government assistance programs in an average month. The black participation rate was followed by Hispanics at 36.4 percent, Asians or Pacific Islanders at 17.8 percent, and non-Hispanic w****s at 13.2 percent." And this is how noncitizens get around the problem... "Only certain non-citizens lawfully admitted are eligible to receive benefits. The rules for non-citizens are complicated. Even if some family members are not eligible due to their immigration status, other members may be able to receive benefits."

The black population is NOT 41.6%, IT IS 13 per cent. 43% of b****s participate in welfare, which is still less than all of the w****s that participate at a lower rate.

Thank you for the two sites, both which supported what I said. If you could disprove any of the lies I listed, I would appreciate it.

But I am curious about this statement; perhaps you left something out: "The black population: At 41.6 percent, b****s were more likely to participate in government assistance programs in an average month. The black participation rate was followed by Hispanics at 36.4 percent, Asians or Pacific Islanders at 17.8 percent, and non-Hispanic w****s at 13.2 percent." 'And this is how noncitizens get around the problem..." B****s and Hispanics are non-citizens? It is also curious that of all the stats you could have, or not, talked about, you chose Black and Hispanic participation.

Now visit the government website (see my last post for link).... this is the report cited by Rumi.

BTW, according to Wikipedia "Wikipedia is written collaboratively by largely anonymous volunteers who write without pay. Anyone with Internet access can write and make changes to Wikipedia articles...." Meaning... not necessarily factual, accurate, or unbiased. Go to the source if you want reliable information.

Your stats make no sense... They cover 100% percent of welfare users... Then add a further 16% for Latinos.... How does one arrive at 116%?

I am sorry, you are right. When I edited (to make it shorter due to your previous observations) I did leave out a qualifier on noncitizens. A noncitizen may not be eligible (with exceptions) for benefits, but may have household members (such as DACA) who do meet requirements for assistance. I did not segregate the b****s out, this was statistics provided from the report... I gave you the link and used quotes. Those are not my "statistics" they are the ones the report published after following a selected number of participants. I find it useful to read the original reports rather than accepting what is written by the media. Here is a direct link to the report https://www.census.gov/library/publications/2015/demo/p70-141.html

No. But why choose that one to refute, and refute alone. And no more comment on that.
