The issue that we need Border Wall in some places...Not from sea to shining sea!!!
Let’s just begin with Trumps campaign promise of a Great Wall from sea to shining sea and Mexico will pay. That’s not the issue with me anymore. But I have studied every immigration bill dating back to Ronald Reagan and it was not difficult to understand because it’s not that I just stated researching. Like I said before for many years I studied legislation. So I did follow this legislation when when it was first proposed and enacted.
Since we are debating barriers along the southern border let’s take a look. The First of the barriers was proposed under Bush 43. ( THE BORDER AND FENCING ACT) of 2006 labeled H. R. 6061. Prior to this bill being signed into law there was about 200 miles of existing fencing and steel slats. Around heavily trafficked areas mostly near the ports of entry. But this legislation authorized construction of an addition 700 miles of fencing on the southern border. Approximately 500 miles of barriers have been completed With sections not installed due to on going litigation on eminent domain. Over the last few years the CBP as litigation has been finalized construction continued and that’s where Trump is taking the credit when he says (I AM BUILDING FENCING NOW) But this was approved in 2006.
Now think about Trumps proposal of an additional 200 miles of fencing that he is looking for under his national emergency act. That money is already available and the only reason these areas are still open is due to litigation.
Prior to the Bush fencing act the illegal (REFORM AND IMMIGRATION RESPONSIBILITY ACT OF 1996) was inacted under Bill Clinton which enacted the process to apply legally for entrance to the US. This legislation is very extensive. I have posted a few snap shots for you to look at and if you have the time you can just look it up. This will give you an idea of our existing laws that over the years are not being enforced due to the lack of personal. But Obama enacted legislation to add 15,000 more border agents. Just look at the forms that need to be filed.
The Border And Fencing Act enacted under Bush covered the area called the melting points. Where i******s could just run across the border and melt into the communities along the border.
Lets look at Reagan who signed sweeping immigration into law. Reagan’s legislation created tighter security at our ports of entry. Also US employers would face strict fines and penalties for hiring i******s but the law was not funded properly and no way for employers to verify if these i******s with phony SS numbers and f**e drivers licenses so how do you levy fines. Bill Clinton recognized this problem so he was able to pass legislation on the evarify system. Which was a great idea a national system where employers had an agency to varify if an illegal was applying for a job and if they hired an illegal there was no excuses when they got fined. Also under the Reagan also had legislation any i*****l i*******t that entered this country before 1982 would be eligible for amnesty. Today that’s a toxic word you can only imagine if Reagan was running today and proposing amnesty for 3 million i*****l i*******ts
Bill Clinton’s was really good expecially when he inacted the evarify system and if Clintons legislation was enforced correctly why would an illegal come to this country if he could not get a job. And if you read Clinton’s legislation the laws that are required to gain access for work.
All democrats and republicans are calling for existing laws to be funded properly to enforce the laws we already have. That’s why in the December legislation that Trump shut down the government that legislation had funding to not only upgrade and expand our training facilities to Accommodate hiring 15,000 new employees it also had new and advanced technology funding.
Now Trump wanted $5.8 billion for additional spending for fencing that’s already funded but held up in litigation. If you use the chart that I posted it shows over the years as new legislation was passed the i******s crossing has gone down. We are at a point now Of 40,000 i******s are entering this country but that number included i******s that enter legally thru our ports of entry and they stay. It’s estimated that 80% enter use our ports of entry. But the legislation in Dec and Jan addresses all these issues expecially proper funding to enforce our i*********n l*ws.
So from Reagan to Clinton to Bush to Obama to Trump all democrats and republicans working together passing bi partisan legislation to shut down our borders that’s why I use to get angry when republicans expecially Trump use the talking points that democrats are for open borders.
This legislation passed over the last 40 years is massive I could be typing for days explaining it. All I can say is read all this legislation that has been enacted over 40 years and if properly enforced there is no problem. Two pieces of legislation I wish you would read is the Obama comprehensive immigration reform bill and the legislation passed almost unanimously in January is a carbon copy of of the Obama Comprehensive Immigration bill that was passed on a bi-Partisan v**e in the senate and they Republican held house refused to v**e on the bill.
That’s why after all this legislation passed over 40 years was passed by democratic and republican presidents and passed with bipartisan v**es in the house and senate.
But I hope that you will take the time to read all these immigration reform bills passed over 40 years.
That’s why Trumps emergency act is crazy there is no emergency on our southern borders.
