Miracles happen everyday. We do not know why some people are spared, a healing takes place, or something is saved.

This week, 3 March 2019 a kind of miracle happened in a small town in West Virginia. A church caught fire and the fire was so hot that firemen had to withdraw to watch it burn. Everything should have been destroyed. But, after the fire (and not one person was hurt) the fire department went into this church.... they report that not one bible was burned or one cross was destroyed. https://www.facebook.com/CCVFD105/posts/1508634686013394
One firefighter Roger Wagler wrote "I am a firefighter I personally same the big thick white Bible laying on the center of the bed with everything else around it burnt completely gone the Bible was still good"

How amazing is that.... two of the crosses in the church were made of wood! And the bibles, they were laid out on a table so those who were expected for service could pick up one and read along with the sermon.

Was this an act of G*d or just a weird coincidence? We live in a time where many say that miracles do not happen... that the bible is just stories... I believe that G*d does still talk to us, He does perform miracles, and the stories in the bible were given to us to teach us how to live. We all (to include myself) need to learn how to listen....

Amen and Amen a very interesting set of events and it does point to G*d saving them for something special. Maybe they will have to wait and see what happens next.

I know there are miracles, most as simple as a rain we take for granted, a happy coincidence of small import, a child laughing. Many miraculous blessings that go unnoticed or unknown: a train delay; failure at a business; embarrassment; an illness; and endless other things we may have tried to avoid or protect ourselves against--but God's hand's ordained the "awful mercy." But why?

In his eternal goodness and omniscience he saw the need to wake us up, give us the eyes to see to get re-centered in Jesus. He arranged the confluence of events for our greater good, to return in utter faith to Christ. His plan. "Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus." 1Thessalonians5:18 (I know you have a problem with Paul but it seemed appropriate to the topic for this and the next citation.) "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans8:28

Miracles are just the everyday care and love of God for all his children that worldly concerns and needs often obfuscate his majesty. Breath is a miracle and all creation.

I am a firm believer in there being no such thing as coincidences.

That is amazing!

Perhaps it was not the Christian God that performed that as a miracle. I think maybe I did/will do that mischief in my sleep. Too much stale pizza for a bedtime snack tomorrow night will give my transcendent spirit a bad case of heartburn. It will time travel back to the 3rd, to when the pizza is FRESH, but being sleepy and careless, and a little stoned, things could go off the rails. After all I may be a transcendent deity who can time travel, and belch fire when in altered states (like Texas or Florida,) but I never claimed that I was perfect!

Christ's image burned into a tortilla. Bibles left unburned in a church in France after a bombing in WWII when the orphanage next door lost forty children asleep in their beds. Statues weeping. Miraculous?

I have always found it curious when Christians thanked God for their "miraculous" survival; essentially he denied them egress to heavenly reward at the time. Shouldn't they feel somewhat rejected? And what of the others that did not survive? Think about it: were they found wanting or more acceptable? The "There for the grace of God" thing always seemed hubris or ignorance to me.

The miraculous is how we see, that's it: The ability for wonder and awe in a cruel and capricious world, not some seemingly favorable largesse of little heart or humanity like that tortilla. That we forgive, persevere, hold out our hand when someone wants to bite it, rejoice in a child's belly laugh, continue to sing and dance despite all our losses and troubles, love our friends and family to pieces, raise our voice for justice and decency despite power, and come here to OPP knowing little hope of changing anything. The Pizza-god is worth a look.
