Do you have any idea what Planned Parenthood does or who will be affected by that decision? You should look at that first before blindly following the GOP's lead.

A******ns represent 3 percent of total services provided by Planned Parenthood, and roughly 10 percent of its clients received an a******n. The group does receive federal funding, but the money cannot be used for a******ns by law; that is handled by a separate entity.

According to the Department of Health and Human Service’s website, "by law, Title X funds may not be used in programs where a******n is a method of family planning." Medicaid funding is restricted by the Hyde Amendment to only a******n cases involving rape, incest or endangerment to the life of the mother. Some states use their own funds under Medicaid to go beyond that. Seventeen states and, until recently, the District of Columbia pay for "medically necessary" a******ns, according to the Guttmacher Institute. The federal budget deal now bans Washington, D.C., from using its funds to pay for a******ns.

Who does Planned Parenthood help?

Roughly 75 percent of Planned Parenthood’s patients have income at or below 150 percent of the federal poverty level, which is one enormous reason why it is essential the organization’s services not be curtailed. The federal funding that Planned Parenthood receives is largely through Medicaid reimbursements. 2. STD screenings and treatment.

Planned Parenthood says 42 percent of their services are for STD testing and treatments. Over 4.5 million tests and treatments are performed each year. There are an estimated 704,000 HIV screenings each year, along with helping the diagnosed people with referrals by getting the help that they need.

3. Sex education.

Planned Parenthood says that they provide education to 1.5 million people per year. The majority of the people that they are educating are teenagers and young adults. For some people, Planned Parenthood is the only resource that they have for sex education.

4. Guidance.

Planned Parenthood provides a sensitive and knowledgable resource for people who need someone to talk to when they have no one else. The organization assists people receive information about topics such as sexual orientation, g****r, body image, relationships, and much more. Planned Parenthood is there for many people when they have no one else to turn to.

5. Women's health.

Planned Parenthood provides women with affordable cancer screenings. Annually they perform 500,00 breast exams and 400,000 pap smears for cervical cancer screenings each year. Also, Planned Parenthood provides HPV tests, pelvic exams, urinary tract infection tests and treatments, and helps women facing infertility with providing resources.

6. Mothers.

Planned Parenthood says that they provided 1.1 million pregnancy tests in 2013 and helped 18,864 people with prenatal care.

7. Providing contraceptives.

Planned Parenthoods says that they prevent an estimation of 516,000 unexpected pregnancies each year. 34 percent of the services Planned Parenthood provides is related to contraceptives.

8. Health Care.

Planned Parenthood helps people find affordable health care, explains what health care is, and explains the benefits. However, Planned Parenthood does not care whether a person has health insurance or not. They welcome everybody.

9. Research.

Every year, Planned Parenthood works on dozens of research projects to help people.

So why reduce the great and still needed service they provide? A political talking point, is why. I have never heard a single Republican tell the t***h about Planned Parenthood. Maybe they have and just their ridiculous sound bites about Planned Parenthood, such as Sen. (R) Jon Kyl saying that a******n services are “well over 90 percent of what Planned Parenthood does,” get covered. Such an extravagant lie is the usual. The GOP would do better by providing factual information that is not necessarily flattering to Planned Parenthood but has the advantage of t***h. Yet riling up the base, not t***h, seems more important.

Some do, if you want to call it that, but neither does Planned Parenthood. The main function of Planned Parenthood is reproductive health. But "just before they are born" is another of those base-baiting lies. Every state, including New York, has laws against "just before they are born" a******ns.

All the big wheels in PP have suddenly started to retire or leave. What do they know that we don't? I think it's the selling of baby parts for money. A judge recently ruled against them based on the Project Veritas videos.
