80% feel “Disappointed” or “Very Disappointed”... “Doubly Insulting”

When I reported back to you and our other members last week the results of our member survey, I had NO IDEA how many of our members would react to my letter with approval, derision, or just plain disbelief!
As you recall, I stated that 80% of our members feel "Disappointed" or "Very Disappointed" that Pres. Trump has called for an increase in legal immigration to "record numbers," and only 6% were encouraged.
Remember--I wrote that millions of Americans have yet to benefit from the strong economy.
What they need, I said, is less competition from new immigrants, not more! 95% of our survey respondents want less immigration!!!
Kathy of Cleveland expressed the feelings of many, when she sent this email with the subject line of "DOUBLY INSULTING":
"I am one of those people left behind -- or rather, never got started. Worked as a legal assistant in the 1980s while I studied at college. Was psych/soc double major, almost had enough criminal justice for a third major.
Had 95% of my masters in counseling done before I uprooted & moved to Chicagoland so hubby could take a better job. Stayed at home to raise my gifted kids. Helped build our own home (literally). Time moved on....
"As is my luck, my empty nester time came in synch with Great Recession. Lost our house, 2 retirement accts (both kids were in college & 2 car pmts). Hubby lost his job, student loans ensued. And even a cancer diagnosis for hubby when Wells Fargo took our house!
Years later, nobody wants me & I seem to fit nowhere.
And hubby's cancer is worsening.
Ivanka Trump is arranging for job and educational programs for immigrants!!!!! But not me.
It is worse for us than most people. And by the way, they will not waive the Parent+ loans, even for a guy with blood cancer.

How? By helping us finance our costly system of faxing, emailing, phoning and grade carding Washington to DEMAND that immigration be REDUCED, NOT INCREASED!
A few people we polled expressed the notion that if someone isn't working, it's because they just don't want to work. I plead with anyone who will listen not to buy into that cynicism. The economy is stronger than it's been in a long time, but there are still people all over America who need jobs and decent wages. Please, listen to their voices:

"I agree 100%. I have been trying to help all that I can, I do wish I could do more, but I am on disability, but I will continue to help when I can."
I wrote Larry back, "Thank you for your participation and giving. But please take our P.S. seriously, which says: 'If you are ill, unemployed, or living on a small fixed income, please do not contribute. We only ask for help from those able to help.' NumbersUSA is a service, not a business! Please continue to send faxes and email, and make those all-important toll-free calls. Leave the donations to those better able to give."
Not everyone even believed Trump could make such a drastic political change by calling for increased LEGAL immigration even as he's fighting ILLEGAL.
Robin, told me flat out:
"President Trump DID NOT say that, I watched the whole thing, I hope he sues the hell out of you for lying and trying to get people money for this LIE..."

It's easy to understand Robin's disbelief.
"I, too, nearly had a heart attack when President Trump said he wanted to increase legal immigration. In thinking why he said that, I believe that he has been accused of r****m so strongly that he believed by saying that it would make him look less like a r****t. I'm not making excuses for him but I do feel sympathy for what he endures from every side all the time."

Although a handful of our members were so shocked by the President's new call for INCREASED LEGAL IMMIGRATION that they could not believe it, 80% of our members DID believe it AND were "Disappointed" or even "Very Disappointed" when they heard or read it. That includes Chris who sent me this email of response.

"Add me to the list of those furious over President Trump wanting to add more immigrants. I am one of those highly sk**led people (General Manager of Quality) that lost my job in 2015, during the last oil patch crash. To this date I am STILL UNEMPLOYED and due to my prolonged unemployment, my prospects for a job are essentially zero. I don't need more competition, I need less! Arrgghh!"

Over the years, more than 3 Million people have signed up to send our faxes, emails, and phone calls to Washington. 7 Million have become Facebook fans. People have watched our social-media posts over a Billion times. We inform v**ers and then those v**ers tell Congress what they think.
Because we have V**ER POWER, NumbersUSA and our members have DEFEATED EVERY AMNESTY IN THIS CENTURY!
If it wasn't for NumbersUSA, you and our millions of members, Congress would pretty much only hear from the campaign donors and lobbyists seeking ever more legal immigration and ever less enforcement against i*****l i*********n.

"Given Trump's horrific calls to 'increase legal immigration more than ever before,' please consider having Trump's Score card re-rated immediately. At this point, he deserves all Fs.
"Trump had an A- before and during the campaign, but I could NEVER EVER V**E for him again due to his increasingly regular statements about increasing legal immigration, and his complete absence of support for reducing legal immigration.
"I could care less if he stops 1 million i******s -- only to add 1 million legals!"

In every p**********l e******n cycle, we rate ALL candidates of both parties.
If a candidate calls for INCREASED LEGAL IMMIGRATION, we LOWER his or her grade.
I hope the President takes back his new position before we roll out the 2020 P**********l Candidate Grade Ccards later this spring.
Since Tim is calling for "all Fs," I should make clear that we support many of President Trump's actions to enforce laws against i*****l i*********n, and that will also be reflected in his grade cards. We have hope that as the President sees more citizen reactions to his recent statements that he will move back to his campaign promises.
Those Grade Cards Tim is referring to are more powerful weapons in our arsenal.
When members of Congress find out we're scoring a given action for our grade cards, that gets a lot of attention!
As I said, this spring, we'll roll out the new P**********l Candidate Grade Cards. Watch for them!
Teddy of Hudson, Ohio just responded to the closing remark I include on all my letters to members.
He just said, "Yes for sure. NEVER GIVE UP." Don't worry, Teddy, NUMBERSUSA CAN BE COUNTED ON TO FIGHT FOR YOU! And that's how I'll end this letter to you and all our other members as I always do:
