White House working on an immigration increase.

McClatchy reports:
"[There's] a new paradigm in the White House. It's a shift away from priorities of 2017 that sought to prevent the influx of foreign workers who could displace American workers in favor of a new approach preferred by more traditional Republicans, particularly those close to the corporate sector who are desperate to attract more foreign workers to fill U.S. factories and tech hubs.
It's a different White House than it was a year ago, said a senior administration official."

--"Jared Kushner privately working on reshaping legal immigration,"

According to the report, "the White House is rethinking some policies that it supported before..."

White House putting some distance between it and past support of Sen. Cotton's Raise Act which would slash legal immigration. Senior officials working on plan to bring in more foreign workers for companies.

Every decision to benefit...corporate lobbies?

In his inauguration address, Trump vowed (http://hub.numbersusa.com/route/10/5c6e1a3d74e18a5283e8155c/2486247/9) that "every decision on trade, on taxes, on immigration, on foreign affairs will be made to benefit American workers and American families."

Trump endorsed Sen. Cotton's RAISE Act, which would have fulfilled many of the recommendations of the bi-partisan Jordan Commission, including reducing immigration to about 600,000 per year.

Flip flop or loose talk?

The McClatchy story is ambiguous about whether or not Trump is committed to breaking his promise to American workers. He may be testing the waters to see what he can get away with. One person who has been meeting with Kushner says of the president's son-in-law, "he doesn't care about the issues. He's there to find out where the deal is."
