Recently, Kevyn posted a heart rending story of a woman carrying a defective fetus with spina bifida involving up to the cervical area. Such an extensive defect would be incompatible with life of any duration. This was justification, in Kenyn’s alleged, mind to abort the pregnancy.
There were several problems with his posting.

He cited the medical tests, including imaging studies, which supported the defect diagnosis but medical imaging and studies are far from infallible. There have been numerous times where the studies are wrong.

It is highly likely that the fetus, if defective, would have been spontaneously aborted if not inductively aborted. (Medically, a pregnancy is considered to be aborted whether induced or occurring spontaneously.)

And if the fetus was defective, it is also highly likely it would not have survived the birth process, let alone for any prolonged period post-partum. There is always the possibility that the neonate would have survived but it would be extremely rare. Unmentioned by Kevyn and his pro-a******nists, is the world of difference, medically & biologically, between a pregnancy that is ended spontaneously and one ended by intervention.

Pregnancy is a time of huge hormonal activity & influence. The usual sex hormones, estrogen and testosterone, remain throughout but others only come into play before & during pregnancy. Progesterone is one but there are others and likely many others as yet unknown. It is an irony that a woman can be in full blown labor and have a negative pregnancy test.

Progesterone prepares the lining of the uterus for pregnancy with implantation of the fertilized ovum. It increases around ovulation. It is sometimes called the happy hormone because it gives the mother a sense of fulfillment. Most pregnant women have a glow about them.

During the first trimester of pregnancy, a trimester is three months, many fetuses spontaneously abort, separating from the uterus and passing out as a splat of blood. The most frequent cause of spontaneous a******n during this first trimester is fetal a******lity. It is nature’s way of saying this isn’t a good one; give me another.

It is important to realize that spontaneous a******n is not an immediate event. The body senses that something is wrong and prepares for it. The placenta has to prepare for separation from the uterus.
Blood vessels shrink. Hormones begin to change to help with the adjustment to the event. The hormones have huge psychological effects. She will feel sad but emerges otherwise intact. Not so with induced a******n.

The body with its hormones has no opportunity to prepare for the separation. To the mother’s body, the pregnancy is a normal one proceeding to its natural destiny. The hormones are suspended in their duties and leave behind remnants of themselves.

Where before there was another body for it to care for, the mother’s body suddenly has, literally, an empty space. The mother will be sad but also left with a pervading sense of guilt. It may continue for years.
This is what Kevyn and the other pro-a******nists of the world will not and can not rebut. These are inexorable facts. To deny them is to lie.

If Kevyn or anyone on OPP doubts this, go to a local a******n mill and watch as the former expectant mothers leave. See if they smile.

Obviously you either did not read Kevyn's post or were willfully blind to certain parts of it...

Here is a part of it.. Perhaps you would like to explain how this doesn't fit your description of loss and regret...

"And so it began. From our waiting room, I emailed our family and explained what was happening. My eyes welled with tears until the screen of my laptop was a blur. Then the staff brought me into a room for one final ultrasound and silent tears fell from my eyes as I heard her heartbeat for the last time. I continued to cry as the doctor rubbed an antiseptic on my stomach before injecting a needle through my pregnant belly and into my daughter’s heart to stop its beating. I continued to cry all night, in an unfamiliar hotel room, as I waited for morning to come when the D & C (dilation and curettage) would be completed and my baby would be surgically removed from my womb. The next day, in the operating room, I cried as they put me under. And when it was done, I awoke to the sound of my own sobs. I cried everyday after for six months."

And of course woman don't smile when they leave an a******n clinic... No one thinks it's fun... Or something that should be done as a leisure activity...

99% of Kevyn's posts are worthless (in my opinion) and you have the gall to go after him for one of the one's that is worth reading...

I am against most forms of a******n... (I make exceptions for rape and medical necessity - Though I believe they should occur as early as possible)... This story was a heart wrenching tale of what appears to be the most difficult and traumatic experience of a young woman's life... God bless her and her family and her child... And may the Lord raise her child up among His angels... Amen

The same principles apply. I'd forgotten the precise details but whether it's partial birth a******n or simply the injection of the heart of the fetus, the mother's body is left the same way. Yes, may God bless her, her family, Kevyn and you and may God forgive those physicians who performed that procedure. Perhaps they could move to China where things like that are encouraged.

Sorry but the fetus is innocent and she cried. And we still don't know that the fetus was defective,

What is your definition of a medical necessity?

A******n is not encouraged in China...
It is legally available...
I agree that we should pray for all of those involved... God bless...

Sorry if I came across too aggressively...
It's an emotional topic...

No problem. I have also come across too aggressively.

My information is that a******n is not only permitted but encouraged and even required in may cases in China.

My point about Kevyn's posting is that there are results in the woman's body that leave her in an emotional turmoil. Such facts are never accepted nor considered by the Kevyns of this world.

I didn't bring up medical necessity but it certainly happens far less than the 1,000,000 annual a******ns that happen in this country.

A******n is permitted...
And due to the One Child Policy was a common method of birth control (Though not required by law)...
A******n clinics have been successfully sued and charged for advertising... So I don't think it is encouraged...
They don't have the same social stigmas that we have in the West...

I don't know Kevyn all that well...
That was the only post of his that I thought had substance...

You stated you were against a******n except for rape and medical necessity. That is why I asked the question.
