Who is Obama to tell another country that their elected leader with an approval rating of over 70% that he has no future in that country.
The arrogance of Washington is off the charts.
"
US President Barack Obama says Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has lost his legitimacy and he has no place in the country's future.

Obama made the remarks in a meeting with the head of the so-called Syrian National Coalition (SNC), Ahmad Jarba, at the White House on Tuesday.

The United States has recently stepped up its military aid to anti-Damascus militants.

According to a White House statement, Jarba also thanked Obama for a total $287 million US aid.

Obama's remarks come ahead of the p**********l e******n in Syria on June 3. It is the first multi-party e******n in the Arab country, with Assad seeking a new term.

The Daily Beast reported earlier this week that US Secretary of State John Kerry said Washington and its allies have “wasted a year” in Syria by failing to coordinate efforts to o*******w Assad.

In a private meeting with Syrian opposition leaders at the State Department in Washington, D.C. last Thursday, Kerry lamented that the lack of coordination had dramatically set back the drive to remove Assad from power.

The participants said Kerry made the remarks when discussing renewed efforts to direct the flow of both aid and weapons to militants in Syria.

Several State Department officials, at least one National Security Council staffer, and several representatives of the Syrian opposition, including Jarba, were in attendance, according to three participants in the meeting.

Foreign-sponsored extremist groups have been behind many of deadly bomb attacks targeting both civilians and government institutions across Syria over the past three years."

My question is whose side are we on and why?

I will not call the anti Assad forces militants because some of them are fighting for the right reasons. But on the Assad side you have Russia, Iran and all of the Syrian Christians. On the other side you have Turkey, jihadists, al Qaida, and Iraqi Kurds. How many of those weapons we are giving the gov opposition forces will one day be used to k**l civilians just trying to make it from day to day and not get murdered, how many will get used to blow up Christian churches that were built hundreds of years ago, how many will be used to k**l us citizens.

This is their civil war not ours and anything other than humanitarian aid is insane.

  We have been interfering in this countries business for so long its terrible.
Look at this leaked memo.
"“In order to facilitate the action of liberative (sic) forces, …a special effort should be made to eliminate certain key individuals. …[to] be accomplished early in the course of the uprising and intervention, …

Once a political decision has been reached to proceed with internal disturbances in Syria, CIA is prepared, and SIS (MI6) will attempt to mount minor sabotage and c**p de main (sic) incidents within Syria, working through contacts with individuals. …Incidents should not be concentrated in Damascus …

Further : a “necessary degree of fear .. frontier incidents and (staged) border clashes”, would “provide a pretext for intervention…"
Guess when this was written?
1957.

I agree. As much as I think Assad can be very brutal, his opponents may very well be worse. Obama likes to talk out of his hat.

I think Obama must be jealous of his approval ratings by his people.

More "Arab Spring" sprung on the Arabs. Bush took a stable, secular Iraq and made a mess of it, and now China gets most of the oil.
Obama succeeded in giving Libya to the Islamists but failed in Egypt when the people threw out his Brotherhood president and put their own in.

Increasing the ripoff of our tax dollars to attack Syria is only going to invite greater effort by Syria's allies to defend Syria. With the spillover into Israel, I wouldn't be surprised to see Israel conduct some very strategic attacks that wipe out a lot of the armament we're shipping over there, just as they've destroyed shipments of rockets to Lebanon through Syria.

Israel and Syria have had a sort of peace for many years but once Syria is made into another radical Islamist state, there will be no more peace.
