Politicians have been making this claim for at least half a century; entitlements are bankrupting the Nation, causing deficits and raising the National debt. Some of these politicians include Social Security and Medicare in their list of entitlements, even though these are contributory programs.

Here what doesn't make sense to me, but may to you: These same politicians expect to receive their full salaries for life after as little as 6 years in public service, and don't contribute a dime towards it. These same politicians spend more time on recess than they do actually working, yet expect their full pay and benefits.

To me, a entitlement is anything that an individual or group receives at someone else's expense, anything not earned. When one looks at Federal expenditures ( an actual chart, not rhetoric ), Federal retirement vies with Defense for the top expense. When one deducts payroll withholdings premium payments, retiring of Treasury notes owed to the trust funds, SS and Medicare expenditures drop to near zero.

Which of the above is the REAL entitlement?

Our country seems to have plenty of money yo give hundreds of billions to foreign nations year after year after year AND plenty of money to take in 2-3 million of the world's needy and greedy citizens every year and spend hundreds of billions of dollars annually giving them free everything. So, of course, if our politicians are going to curb ANY spending, it is going to be spending on our own citizens, NOT EVER curbing the billions given to foreigners, something no American gets any benefits from. After the last CA caravan of thousands arrived, the president made some kind of deal with Mexico to keep these people there until US authorities could hear their asylum claims. Wasn't long before I read that the US had given over $10 BILLION to Mexico (got half) and the 3 CA nations to use to improve their economies so their citizens will not come to the US. Unbelievable how stupid, reckless, and easily manipulated our nation has become. But, I quickly realized Mexico had, once again, exploited the US for its own gain, and, this time, got some money for its CA buddies. Now, we have a new caravan of thousands almost here.
